I do not eat melon of any kind but my family loves them and they like them cold.When I saw this on recipes.sparkpeople.com,I knew I must make these for them. I also like to serve fruit for parties and I'm sure this will be a great addition.

- 1. Thread on wooden skewers (alternate among the three types of melon), then freeze on a baking sheet. Serve frozen.
MELON BALLS TO FREEZE
This recipe is from my dh's Amish mother. Probably developed because the Amish waste NOTHING! :) This is a wonderful winter-time treat, w/ the summertime flavor! Enjoy!

- Use melon baller& ball semi-firm honeydew& cantaloupes.
- Place into freezer containers.
- Fill with sugar water.
- Sugar water: 4 cups water to 4 cups sugar- heat to melt the sugar.
- Cool completely before pouring over the balls.
- (sugar amounts can be varied. I choose to use 6 cups water to 4 cups sugar) These are best served before completely thawed, so they're a bit'crisp,' and not soggy.
- A wonderful addition to winter fruit salads!

- Using a melon baller, scoop out 35 to 40 small watermelon balls. Place on paper towels and set aside.

- Cut the watermelon in half anf scoop out round shapes using a melon baller. Discard the seeds and place the melon balls in a covered container inside the freezer. You will need about a cup of watermelon balls. Keep the rest of the watermelon for something else.
- Cut open a muskmelon into half and discard the mushy seeds from the centre. Then using a melon baller, cut out round shapes. Since a muskmelon is of smaller size, you will probably need one whole muskmelon for a cup of melon balls. Store a cup of muskmelon balls in a covered container in the freezer.
- Scoop out the balance of the muskmelon leaving a cm thick of muskmelon inside. Keep the balance flesh in the refrigerator for later use. We will use the muskmelon skins to serve the salad.

- Place the melon balls in a single layer on a baking sheet. Freeze 1 hour or until solid. Transfer melon balls to a resealable plastic bag and store in the freezer until just before serving or up to 2 weeks.
