6 cloves garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 teaspoon sugar (or a sugar replacement)
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/8 teaspoon dried thyme
Optional: 1 red Fresno chile pepper (minced, 1 to 2 teaspoons)

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Heat the oven to 350 F. Peel the garlic cloves and put them in a small baking dish or ramekin. Pour the olive oil over the garlic and cover the baking dish tightly with foil. Bake the garlic for 25 minutes until it softens.
  • Let the garlic cool slightly and then mash until it is smooth.
  • Combine the mashed garlic with the remaining ingredients (including the optional minced pepper) in a bowl.
  • Whisk the ingredients until the mixture is smooth and well blended.
  • Transfer the dipping sauce to a jar and refrigerate it for at least a few hours or overnight.
  • Serve the sauce with chicken wings, fried tenders or chicken strips , fried fish, or crudités .

2 lbs chicken wings, cut at joints, tips discarded
2 garlic cloves, crushed in garlic press
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup light mayonnaise
3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat grill or broiler. Cut tips off wings and discard. Cut wings in half at joint.
  • Grill or broil wings, turning occasionally, 15 minutes.
  • In small bowl, combine garlic and oil.
  • Grill wings, brushing with garlic oil, an additional 10 minutes or until cooked through. Note: Do not brush during the last 5 minutes of grilling.
  • Meanwhile, in small bowl, combine mayonnaise, cheese, mustard and Worcestershire sauce until blended. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Serve garlic wings with Parmesan dipping sauce.

This buttery garlic-parmesan sauce is so simple and tastes sinfully delicious. A friend baked plain chicken wings for her Super Bowl party but realized at the last minute that she didn't have Tabasco sauce on hand to make Buffalo sauce. She called in a panic, and this is the sauce I advised. All her party guests raved about it. Some reviewers have stated these wings are as good as or better than Wingstop's. We don't have a Wingstop in our area, so I'll take their word for it! (Note: In response to reviewers' recommendations to decrease the amount of butter, this recipe has been adjusted from 1/2 cup to 1/4 cup of butter. Thanks!)
