SUMMERTIME WATERMELON PUNCH FOR A CROWD
I attended a patio party years ago where the hostess had a clever watermelon "bowl" with a scalloped edge and filled with this punch. It was the hit of the party, and she was kind enough to share the delicious punch recipe with me. -Joan Hallford, North Richland Hills, Texas

Steps:
- Process watermelon in batches in a food processor until smooth. Press through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl; discard pulp. Pour juice into a large pitcher or punch bowl. Stir in juice concentrate and lemon juice. Refrigerate until chilled., Stir in wine and ginger ale before serving. Serve over ice with additional watermelon.

GERMAN ANANAS-MANGO-BOWLE (PINEAPPLE MANGO WINE PUNCH)
Bowle is a German summer fruit & wine punch. There are many versions of Bowle. This version relies on tropical fruits and Madeira to give it a unique taste. Bowle is served with clear picks to spear the wine-soaked fruit out of each glass. Plan ahead - the fruit needs to soak several hours before your guests arrive. Translated directly from the German version I found in "Sommerfeste" magazine.

Steps:
- 2-3 hours before your guests arrive arrive, peel, core, and cut the pineapple into bite-sized chunks on a ridged cutting board to catch any juices.
- Place pineapple chunks into a large clear glass punch bowl or Bowle pitcher, pouring in any of the pineapple juices.
- Peel mango and cut into small cnunks and add to the pineapple.
- Pour the Madeira and 1 bottle of white wine over the fruit.
- Cover and chill until the guests arrive.
- When the guests arrive, add the remaining wine and the champagne and serve.
MELON & CUCUMBER PUNCH
Perfectly ripe Galia melon, orange liqueur and Pimm's pump this punch with summery flavour

- Cut the melon in half and scoop out and discard the seeds. Using a melon baller cut the fruit into spheres and place in a large punch bowl. Add the lemon juice, Pimm's, orange liqueur and white wine then chill in the fridge for 1-2 hrs.
- To serve, add the cucumber pieces, mint sprigs and top with sparkling water and ice.

GERMAN "MELONENBOWLE" (MELON WINE PUNCH)
Bowle is a type of wine & fruit punch served in Germany in the summertime. There are many different versions of Bowle. Bowle is served in a lovely Bowle pitcher accompanied by small glass punch glasses and clear picks used to spear the wine-soaked fruit. German wines would typically be used, but any wine you prefer will do nicely. Plan ahead - the fruit needs to soak for several hours before serving. Steps:
- 2-3 hours before your guests arrive, halve the watermelon, remove any seeds and scoop out the flesh using a melonballer.
- Place melon balls in a large clear glass punch bowl or Bowle pitcher.
- Halve the honeydew melon, remove any seeds, and scoop out the flesh with a melonballer.
- Add the honeydew melon balls to the watermelon balls and pour 1 bottle of wine over the fruit.
- Chill,covered, until guests arrive.
- When the guests have arrived, add remaining wine and the champagne to the fruit mixture and serve.
- NOTE: A very pretty way to serve Melon Bowle is to use a carved out round watermelon as the punch bowl.
- You can use a knife to carve designs around the green shell, if desired.
- If using the watermelon rind as your bowl, prepare Bowle as usual, only transfer the soaked fruit into the chilled empty rind just before serving and add the remaining liquid.
- Set on a plate to catch any spills or leaks.
