HOMEMADE BLUEBERRY JAM

Homemade Blueberry Jam image

Time 27m

Number Of Ingredients 2

3 cups frozen blueberries
1 /2 - 1 cup of water

Steps:

  • Add blueberries and 1/2 cup of water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Bring to a simmer.
  • Gently mash the blueberries while they are cooking. I use a potato masher and included the link to it below, but you can use anything that won't ruin your pans.
  • Add 1/4 cup of water if the mixture starts to get dry.
  • Continue simmering and mashing, adding 1/4 cup of water each time it gets too dry, until you've reached your desired consistency. The mixture will become slightly more firm once It cools.
  • Store in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoy.
  • This will last in the fridge for at least two weeks (and maybe more).

BLUEBERRY JAM - SMALL BATCH

Blueberry Jam - Small Batch image

Delicious blueberry jam is so easy to make. This small batch blueberry jam recipe is vibrantly coloured and busting with blueberry flavour, with just three ingredients and no pectin needed. Use fresh or frozen blueberries as you prefer.

Provided by Helen Best-Shaw

Categories     Jams and Preserves

Time 32m

Number Of Ingredients 3

500 g blueberries (frozen or fresh )
500 g sugar (granulated)
½ lemon (juice only)

Steps:

  • If using frozen berries, allow them to defrost in a saucepan.
  • If using the wrinkle test for the setting point, place a couple of side plates in the freezer.
  • Put your jam jars in a small roasting dish in the oven to sterilize at 100°C/220°F/Gas Mark 1 while you make the jam.
  • Place the fruit in a large saucepan. Simmer gently until soft. If using fresh fruit, add a splash of water. (Frozen berries will be wet enough to use without adding any.)
  • Once the fruit is soft, add the sugar and lemon juice. Simmer the mixture to dissolve the sugar. Keep stirring.
  • Once all the sugar has dissolved, turn up the hob and heat the jam quickly to a rolling boil. After a couple of minutes, start testing the jam's set using your favourite method.

CERTO® BLUEBERRY JAM

CERTO® Blueberry Jam image

Think blueberry pie in a canning jar, and you're not far from this intensely fruity jam. Bonus: You'll be done in 45 minutes!

Provided by My Food and Family

Categories     Home

Time 45m

Yield About 9 (1-cup) jars or 144 servings, 1 Tbsp. each

Number Of Ingredients 5

4-1/2 cups prepared fruit (buy about 4 pt. fully ripe blueberries)
2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
7 cups sugar, measured into separate bowl
1/2 tsp. butter or margarine
2 pouches CERTO Fruit Pectin

Steps:

  • Bring boiling-water canner, half full with water, to simmer. Wash jars and screw bands in hot soapy water; rinse with warm water. Pour boiling water over flat lids in saucepan off the heat. Let stand in hot water until ready to use. Drain well before filling.
  • Stem and crush blueberries thoroughly, one layer at a time. Measure exactly 4-1/2 cups prepared blueberries into 6- or 8-qt. saucepot. Stir in lemon juice.
  • Stir sugar into prepared blueberries in saucepot. Add butter to reduce foaming. Bring to full rolling boil (a boil that doesn't stop bubbling when stirred) on high heat, stirring constantly. Stir in pectin. Return to full rolling boil and boil exactly 1 min., stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Skim off any foam with metal spoon.
  • Ladle immediately into prepared jars, filling to within 1/4 inch of tops. Wipe jar rims and threads. Cover with two-piece lids. Screw bands tightly. Place jars on elevated rack in canner. Lower rack into canner. (Water must cover jars by 1 to 2 inches. Add boiling water, if necessary.) Cover; bring water to gentle boil. Process 10 min. Remove jars and place upright on towel to cool completely. After jars cool, check seals by pressing middles of lids with finger. (If lids spring back, lids are not sealed and refrigeration is necessary.)

BLUEBERRY JAM

Blueberry jam image

Treat yourself to some homemade blueberry jam, the ideal accompaniment to toast, fruit scones or dolloped onto natural yogurt at breakfast time

Provided by Esther Clark

Categories     Condiment

Time 45m

Yield Makes 2 x 500ml jars

Number Of Ingredients 4

800g blueberries , washed
500g granulated sugar
1 vanilla pod , split lengthways
1 large lemon , juiced

Steps:

  • Put a plate in the freezer for you to test your jam is set later. Sterilise two 500ml jam jars so they are ready to use.
  • Put the blueberries, sugar, vanilla and lemon in a large heavy-based saucepan over a medium heat. Crush the blueberries a little with a potato masher. Bring to the boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 30 mins. Skim off any skum that has formed on the top with a spoon and discard.
  • Test the jam is set by spooning a mound on to your cooled plate. Put in to the fridge for 3 mins. If the jam forms a skin and ripples when you push it with your finger, it's ready. If not, return to the heat for 5 more mins then repeat the test. Do this until you reach setting point.
  • Leave the jam to sit for 10 mins off the heat. Ladle into your warm, sterilised jars and seal the lids on top. Leave to cool completely. Will keep for six months unopened in a cool, dry place, or two weeks once opened in the fridge.
