Here's what you need: whole milk, dark chocolate, chili flake, brown sugar, whipped cream, chili flake, chocolate

1 ¾ cups whole milk
¾ cup dark chocolate
1 pinch chili flake
1 tablespoon brown sugar
whipped cream, to taste
½ teaspoon chili flake, to taste
chocolate, grated

Steps:

  • Gently heat the milk in a saucepan over a medium heat.
  • Stir in the dark chocolate, chili flakes, and brown sugar.
  • Take off the heat and pour into a tall glass.
  • Garnish with whipped cream, chilli flakes, and grated chocolate.
  • Enjoy!

Got this off a cooking show - can't remeber which one. The combination of chilli and chocolate is fabulous in winter (picture the woodfire, pouring rain and all the associated cliches!). My boyfriend and I are both huge fans of both chocolate (that goes without saying!) and chilli, so this is a fabulous combination of the two!!

100 g 80% cocoa solids chocolate
chili powder
3 cups milk

Steps:

  • gently heat milk in a saucepan over low heat.
  • when the milk is about 90 degrees C, break up the chocolate and add to the milk.
  • stir or whisk (which ever works best) until the chocolate melts.
  • Add the chilli, testing as you go until it is as hot as you like it.
  • enjoy in bed on a rainy night with a good movie and good company (human, dog or cat!).

1 1/4 cups half-and-half
12 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
2 tablespoons raspberry liqueur
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For serving: fresh fruit such as strawberries and bananas, pound cake, angel food cake, brownie bites and coconut macaroons

Steps:

  • Bring the half-and-half to a simmer in a fondue pot or small saucepan. Add the chocolate and stir until completely melted. Stir in the raspberry liqueur and vanilla.
  • If using a fondue pot, place in on the fondue burner. Otherwise, simply bring the saucepan to the table (the chocolate will remain at a dipping consistency for over an hour).
  • Serve with an assortment of dippers such as strawberries, bananas, pound cake, angel food cake, brownie bites and coconut macaroons.
