SLOPPY JOES
These Sloppy Joes are perfect for those evenings when you don't have anything planned but need dinner on the table fast. You just need to add the meat and spices and let the Instant Pot® do all the work. These Sloppy Joes can be served on hamburger buns or on top of sweet potatoes or mashed potatoes.

Steps:
- Select Sauté and add the olive oil to the inner pot. Once the oil is hot, add the ground beef and cook for 3 minutes, using a spatula to break up the meat.
- Press Cancel and add the onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, tomato purée, ketchup, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Stir to combine.
- Lock the lid into place. Select Pressure Cook or Manual; set the pressure to High and the time to 10 minutes. Make sure the steam release knob is in the sealed position. After cooking, naturally release the pressure for 10 minutes, then quick release the remaining pressure.
- Unlock and remove the lid. Stir the Sloppy Joe mixture to make sure it's well combined.
- Serve immediately garnished with purple slaw and parsley, if desired, or place the Sloppy Joes in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 2 months

- Press the SAUTE button. Add in the butter and let it melt.
- Add in the ground beef, red pepper, and red onion and cook, using a spatula to break up the meat.
- Press CANCEL.
- In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, red wine vinegar, steak seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato sauce.
- Pour sauce on meat in Instant Pot and stir to combine. If you are worried about getting the "burn notice" on your Instant Pot, use a wooden spoon to scrape the bottom of the Instant Pot and loosen up any burned or brown bits on the bottom of the pot (aka deglazing the pot).
- Place the lid on the Instant Pot and secure in place. Turn the vent to SEALING. Press the MANUAL button and set the timer for 8 minutes.
- When cooking is finished, let the pressure NATURALLY RELEASE for 10 minutes and then move the vent to VENTING and release the remaining pressure.
- Remove the lid and stir to make sure everything is mixed together, then serve meat on hamburger buns.

- Turn on a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®) and select Saute function. Add oil and tip pot to coat the entire bottom. Add ground beef, onion, and red bell pepper. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook and stir until vegetables are soft and beef is no longer pink, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease.
- Add garlic to the pot and cook another 30 seconds. Add vinegar. Stir in water, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, chili powder, and red pepper flakes. Add crushed tomatoes and stir well.
- Close and lock the lid and close the vent. Select high pressure according to manufacturer's instructions; set timer for 5 minutes. Allow 10 to 15 minutes for pressure to build.
- Meanwhile, toast hamburger buns and coat with butter.
- Release pressure using the natural-release method according to manufacturer's instructions for 10 minutes. Release remaining pressure carefully using the quick-release method according to manufacturer's instructions, about 5 minutes. Unlock and remove the lid.
- Serve on toasted buns.

- Prepare Pressure Cooker: Heat up your pressure cooker over medium high heat (Instant Pot: press Sauté button and Adjust button once to Sauté More function). Ensure your pot is as hot as it can be (Instant Pot: wait until indicator says HOT).
- Brown Ground Beef: Season ground beef generously with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper. Add 1 tbsp (15ml) olive oil in pressure cooker. Ensure to coat oil over whole bottom of the pot.Add ground beef in pressure cooker. The ground beef will begin to release moisture. At the 5-minute mark, drain & discard the ground beef juice.Allow ground beef to brown. Stir occasionally until they are slightly crisped and browned (~5 – 7 minutes).
- Saute Vegetables: Add diced onion to browned beef and saute for 2 minutes. Add in diced bell pepper and minced garlic, then saute until fragrant (roughly a minute).
- Deglaze: Add 1 tbsp (12.5g) brown sugar, 1 tbsp (15ml) regular soy sauce, 1 tbsp (15ml) Worcestershire sauce, and ½ cup (125ml) water, then fully deglaze bottom of the pot by scrubbing all the flavorful brown bits with a wooden spoon. Mix the brown bits with the liquid mixture.
