CREAMY ITALIAN SAUSAGE ONE-PAN PASTA



Creamy Italian Sausage One-Pan Pasta image

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound sweet Italian sausage, removed from casing
1 medium onion, diced
2 teaspoons dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
Pinch red pepper flakes
2 cloves garlic, minced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 cups low-sodium chicken broth
One 28-ounce can tomato puree
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 pound fusilli pasta (or other pasta shape)
1 cup shredded mozzarella
1/4 cup mascarpone
Shaved Parmesan, for serving
10 to 12 fresh basil leaves, torn, for serving

Steps:

  • Heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. When the oil is hot, add the sausage and cook until it starts to brown, about 5 minutes. Add the onions and cook until softened and translucent and the sausage is well browned, another 5 to 7 minutes. Add the oregano, fennel seeds, red pepper flakes, garlic and some salt and black pepper and stir again.
  • Next, add the broth, tomato puree and tomato paste and stir well. Add the uncooked pasta into the sauce, bring to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is al dente, 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the mozzarella and mascarpone. Taste and add more seasoning if necessary. Serve with shaved Parmesan and torn basil leaves.

Steps:

  • Cook pasta as directed on package, omitting salt.
  • Meanwhile, cook sausage in large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat 10 min. or until done, stirring occasionally; drain. Return sausage to skillet. Add tomatoes, onions and dressing; stir. Cook 5 min. or until onions are heated through, stirring occasionally.
  • Drain pasta; place in large bowl. Add sausage mixture and 1/2 cup cheese; mix lightly. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.

2 medium yellow bell peppers, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
2 medium red bell peppers, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
1 jar (26 oz) tomato pasta sauce
4 1/2 cups uncooked rotini pasta (12 oz)
6 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Place Reynolds™ Slow Cooker Liners inside a 5- to 6 1/2 -qt slow cooker bowl. Make sure that liner fits snugly against the bottom and sides of bowl and pull the top of the liner over rim of bowl. In cooker liner, mix all ingredients except pasta and cheese.

1 (12 ounce) package rotini pasta
1 pound bulk Italian sausage
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 red bell peppers, chopped
1 small zucchini, chopped
1 small yellow squash, chopped
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
salt and pepper to taste
1 (14.4 ounce) can diced tomatoes
1 cup tomato sauce
¼ teaspoon dried thyme
¼ teaspoon dried basil

1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente, 8 to 10 minutes; drain.
  • Brown the sausage, stirring to crumble, in a skillet over medium heat. Remove sausage using a slotted spoon, leaving drippings in the pan. Cook and stir the onion and garlic in the sausage drippings until the onions are softened. Return the sausage to the pan. Stir in the red bell pepper, zucchini, yellow squash, and mushrooms. 1 pound rigatoni
1 large bunch broccolini, trimmed into 1 1/2-inch pieces
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound sweet Italian sausage, casings removed.
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 cup grated Pecorino Romano cheese, plus more for topping

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package directions for al dente, adding the broccolini for the last 4 minutes of cooking. Reserve 2 1/2 cups of the cooking water, then drain the pasta and broccolini and set aside.
  • Meanwhile, heat a large Dutch oven over medium heat and add the olive oil. When the oil is hot, add the sausage and cook, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, until browned, about 4 minutes. Add the onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes.
  • Add the tomato paste, red pepper flakes and garlic to the pot and cook, stirring, until sizzling, 30 seconds. Add 2 cups of the reserved pasta water, bring to a simmer and cook until reduced by half, 5 to 6 minutes.
  • Add the pasta, broccolini and parsley to the sauce and toss to coat, adding more water if needed. Taste and add salt if necessary. Remove from the heat and sprinkle with the grated cheese, then toss well. Top each serving with more grated cheese.

1 pinch Salt

Steps:

  • Boil water for pasta and cook pasta as directed
  • Chop or dice the onions
  • Add the extra virgin olive oil in a skillet
  • Add the onions and cook for about 5 minutes or until translucent
  • Chop the sausages into 1/2 inch in thickness, then add to the skillet
  • Cook sausages with the onions until the sausages are browned
  • Add the can of crushed tomatoes into the skillet
