Celebrate Cinco de Mayo With John's Cucumber Jalapeño Margaritas image

Rach's husband John gives the margarita a spicy & refreshing twist by adding in muddled fresh cucumber + jalapeño.

Number Of Ingredients 9

½ jalapeño
seeded (optional)
2 to 3 inches seedless cucumber
peeled and sliced
plus 2 slices for garnish
About ⅓ cup silver tequila
About ⅓ cup elderflower liqueur (such as St Germain)
About ⅓ cup fresh lime juice
Ice

Steps:

  • In a cocktail shaker, combine jalapeño, if using, and cucumber and muddle to release juices
  • Add tequila, St Germaine, and lime juice
  • Fill with ice, then cover and shake vigorously to combine
  • Strain into 2 ice-filled glasses
  • Garnish with cucumber slices

Nothing tastes better than tequila and jalapeno; the cucumber adds a freshness that helps to mute the jalapeno's bite. The longer it chills, the more jalapeno and cucumber infuses into the tequila. Serve over ice in a salt-rimmed glass, garnished with cucumber slices.

½ cup tequila, or more to taste
½ cup fresh lime juice
¼ cup orange liqueur
¼ cup simple syrup
1 jalapeno pepper, halved and seeded
4 thin slices cucumber, or more to taste
4 wedges lime
2 tablespoons kosher salt, or as needed
ice, as needed
4 slices cucumber

Steps:

  • Stir tequila, lime juice, orange liqueur, and simple syrup together in a pitcher with a lid; add jalapeno pepper and thin cucumber slices. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  • Run a wedge of lime along the rim of each of four pint glasses. Spread kosher salt onto a flat plate; press glass rims into salt to coat. Fill glass with ice and pour margarita over the ice. Garnish with cucumber slice.

1/4 cup simple syrup, or more as needed

Steps:

  • Mix together the lime juice, tequila, orange liqueur, simple syrup, cucumber and jalapenos in a large pitcher. Chill for at least 1 hour (the longer the margarita sits, the more the cucumber and jalapeno flavors infuse into the drink).

10 ounces milagro silver tequila
2 limes, juice of
4 lime wedges
1 large ice cube
kosher salt

Steps:

  • Using a mortar and pestle, grind 4 slices jalepeno, 4 slices cucumber into 1/4 cup sugar. Pour mixture into a shaker. Add tequila, Cointreau and lime juice. Fill shaker with ice and shake heavily. Rub rim of 4 highball glasses with lime wedges and coat with salt. Fill with ice. Give the shaker one more shake and strain contents into each glass. Garnish with jalapeno and cucumber slices.
