JULIA'S BEST EVER CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES IN A JAR

Steps:
- Combine the flour, baking soda, white sugar, and the chocolate chips. Place 1/2 of the mixture in a clean quart sized glass jar, and pack firmly. Place the brown sugar on top, again packing firmly. Place the remaining flour mixture on top. Cover with a lid.
- Attach an index card with the following directions: Empty contents of jar into a large bowl. In separate bowl combine 3/4 cup of butter, 1 1/2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until creamy. Add to dry mixture. Drop by tablespoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet, and bake in a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 8 to 10 minutes.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Beat sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
- Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl; stir into the butter mixture until well blended. Mix in chocolate chips and walnuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake in the preheated oven just until set, 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly on the cookie sheets before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

JESSICA'S CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
My sister asks for this recipe frequently so I'm posting it on here so she can always find it! I love chocolate chip cookies and have been on the search for years for one. This has been modified to what I think is the perfect chocolate chip cookies! Sometimes I'll switch up the chips to whatever I'm in the mood for (white, dark, milk). You can also do oatmeal and just switch out the flour for however much oatmeal you want! I have found Philsbury four to work the best.

Steps:
- Heat oven to 350.
- Cream butter and sugars.
- Beat in vanilla and eggs.
- Mix dry ingredients together in separate bowl and mix in with the butter/sugar mixture. Mix well.
- Add chocolate chips.
- Roll into balls that are just smaller than a golf ball.
- Cook for 8-9 minutes (will not look done but they will be PERFECT after sitting for a few minutes).
- Eat and enjoy :).

Steps:
- In a large mixing bowl beat shortening and butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
- Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, and baking soda.
- Beat until mixture is combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much flour as you can with the mixer.
- Stir in any remaining flour.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Drop dough with a 1/4 cup measure about 4 inches apart.
- Bake in a 375˚ oven for 11 to 13 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

- In a medium bowl whisk together the flour and baking soda, set aside. Adjust oven rack to the middle position. Heat to 375°F (191ºC).
- Cut the butter into 14 even-sized pieces. In a medium skillet, melt 10 tablespoons of butter over medium heat, about 2 minutes. Don't let the butter get too hot, just melted. Then stir in the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter until completely melted.
- In a stand mixer fitted with the whisk attachment, add the melted butter to the mixing bowl. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla. Whisk on medium speed (setting 5) until combined, 30 seconds.
- Add the whole egg and yolk to the mixing bowl. Whisk on medium-high speed (setting 8) until smooth with no sugar lumps remaining, about 30 seconds. Let the mixture stand for 3 minutes. Repeat the whisking and resting process 3 more times: 30 seconds mixing at medium-high speed, and 3 minutes of rest. After four total times, the mixture should be thick, smooth, and shiny.
