Crustless Low Carb Taco Pie (with taco seasoning recipe) image

A simple, crustless meat and cheese dish that makes a wonderful main dish supper.

2 tablespoons chili powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1/3-1/2 tablespoon coarse salt (See note about using less.)
1 tablespoon black pepper, ground
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
1/4-1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 pound ground beef
3 tablespoons Taco Seasoning (see above)
6 large eggs
1 cup heavy cream
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (well-packed) (About 4 ounces.)

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, stir together all of the ingredients (chili powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, and cayenne.) Set aside.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9-inch glass or ceramic deep dish pie pan.
  • Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink about 7 minutes, breaking up any clumps with a wooden spoon. Add the taco seasoning and stir until combined. Spread the beef mixture in the greased pie pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine the eggs, cream, and garlic. Pour slowly over the beef mixture in the pan.
  • Sprinkle with the cheese and bake for 30 minutes or until the center is set and the cheese is browned. Remove from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

This easy recipe for Keto Taco Pie is a great comfort food recipe that's perfect for a weeknight meal or for meal prep during the week. The crust is on top and made up of cheese, almond flour and eggs for a perfectly crispy and bread like texture that has minimal carbs. It can easily be modified to fit a Whole30 reset!

1 pound Ground Beef (80/20)
½ cup White Onion (diced)
1 cup Bell Pepper (diced)
1 Jalapeno pepper (minced)
2 tsp Garlic (minced)
1 tbsp Avocado Oil
1 packet Taco Seasoning
6 Eggs
1 cup Shredded Mexican Cheese
½ cup Almond Flour

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 F.
  • In a large skillet, heat up 1 tbsp avocado oil. Add in the bell pepper, jalapeno, and garlic and sauté for about 5 minutes or until everything begins to soften.
  • To the skillet, add in ground beef and taco seasoning. Sauté ground beef in with the vegetables for 5-8 minutes or until beef is cooked through and no longer pink.
  • In a bowl, whisk together eggs, cheese and almond flour until a thick batter is formed.
  • Place your ground beef mixture in a pie pan or 8x8 baking dish and press the mixture down until it's flat.
  • Pour the egg, cheese and almond flour crust on top using a spoon or rubber spatula to spread evenly over the ground beef mixture.
  • Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

1 pound ground beef
3 Tbsp taco seasoning (sugar free)
1 Tbsp water (or more if needed)
6 large eggs
1 cup heavy cream
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 cup grated cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Spray a 9" pie plate with non stick cooking spray, set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain fat. Add taco seasoning and water, cook and stir for another minute. Spread in the pie pan.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, cream, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Pour evenly over the ground beef.
  • Bake at 350° for about 25 minutes.
  • Sprinkle cheese on top and bake for another 5 minutes, or until center is set and cheese is melted.
  • Garnish with sour cream, tomatoes, avocados, lettuce, and green onions if desired.

  • Begin by making the keto pie crust. In a microwave safe bowl, melt the mozzarella cheese using the microwave for 2 minutes or until melted. Or melt the cheese in a non-stick skillet over the stove top, until melted. Add almond flour, egg, baking powder, xanthan gum and melted cheese to a food processor. Pulse until combined and a dough ball forms. If you don't have a food processor, see suggestions below.
  • Form dough into a ball and place into between two pieces of parchment paper. Roll out dough into a flat circle until the diameter is 2 inches larger than your pie plate. Remove the top layer of parchment paper. Place pie pan upside down on top the center of the pie crust. Slide you hand under the pie crust and hold on to the bottom of the pie dish. Then flip upside down so the pie crust lands on top of the pie plate. Remove the parchment paper.
  • Press the pie dough into the pie pan. Get rid of excess dough if needed. Using a fork, poke holes in the bottom of the crust to allow for air to escape and to prevent the crust from bubbling up when baking. Bake in a 400 degree Fahrenheit oven for 10 minutes.
