This Baked Salmon recipe is super easy to make and ready in 20 minutes! Seasoned with a simple flavored butter made with garlic, fresh dill and lemon, this baked salmon recipe always turns out flaky, tender and perfectly delicious.

2 pounds salmon filet (skin-on or skinless)
Salt and pepper to taste
4 tablespoons butter
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 lemon, zest and juice (about 1 tablespoon of juice)
2 teaspoons fresh dill, finely chopped plus more for garnishing (garnish is optional)
1 lemon, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Remove the salmon from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature while you preheat the oven. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Spray a baking dish with cooking spray or coat the bottom with a little bit of melted butter or oil to prevent the fish from sticking.
  • Place the salmon on the baking dish (skin side down if your fish has skin). Season the salmon on both sides with salt and black pepper.
  • In a small bowl, melt the butter and stir in the garlic, lemon zest, lemon juice and fresh dill. Let the flavored butter cool for about a minute.
  • Pour the lemon herb butter over the salmon. Arrange the lemon slices on top of the fish.
  • Bake uncovered for 12 to 15 minutes (depending on the size and thickness of the fish) or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily (see notes). Remove from the oven and serve garnished with extra dill (optional).

4 salmon fillets
to taste butter or to taste margarine, spreadable

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 F.
  • Cut Salmon Filet width-wise into about 1-1/2 inch pieces.
  • Spread a thin layer of butter/margarine over each salmon steak.
  • Slice lemon, and place 1 slice of lemon on top of each salmon steak.
  • Squeeze lemon juice out of unused portion of lemon evenly over each ste ak.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  • Serve with rice. Variations: The margarine is not necessary, however my husband says it's too bland without the margarine, and the lemon flavoring is stronger without the margarine. It also prevents drying if you like your salmon cooked thoroughly.

8 (4 ounce) skinless salmon fillets
4 tablespoons salted butter
2 ½ tablespoons fresh lemon juice

½ cup water
1 lemon, juiced
½ cup butter, cut into 16 pieces
2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
2 (1 pound) salmon fillets
½ cup butter, cut into 8 pieces
1 clove garlic, minced
1 lemon, cut into 8 slices

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). Combine water and lemon juice in a bowl.
  • Arrange the 16 smaller pieces of butter in 2 rows on a baking dish and top with garlic slices. Place salmon fillets over each row of butter and garlic.
  • Melt remaining sliced butter in a bowl with minced garlic, about 40 seconds. Spoon about half the melted butter-garlic mixture over salmon and top with lemon slices. Pour about half the lemon juice mixture into the baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Baste fillets with juices in the baking dish, then pour remaining butter and lemon juice over the fish. Continue baking until salmon is easily flaked with a fork, about 10 minutes more.

The tender fillets are doused with an easy lemon-butter sauce for a fast and tasty weeknight meal.

Olive oil, for the foil
Four 4- to 5-ounce skin-on frozen salmon fillets
Kosher salt
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, at room temperature

Steps:

  • Position an oven rack in center of the oven and preheat to 450 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and brush with oil.
  • Rinse the salmon fillets with cold water and pat them well with paper towels. Place the fillets, evenly spaced, in the middle of the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 8 minutes; remove the baking sheet from the oven and season the tops of the fillets with 1 teaspoon salt.
