This wilted salad is lightly coated with a delectable warm dressing.

5 slices bacon
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon white sugar
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 head leaf lettuce - rinsed, dried and torn into bite-size pieces
6 green onions with tops, thinly sliced

Steps:

  • Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Remove from skillet, crumble and set aside.
  • To the hot bacon drippings, add the vinegar, lemon juice, sugar and pepper. Stir over medium heat until hot.
  • In a large bowl, combine the lettuce and green onions. Add the warm dressing and toss to evenly coat. Sprinkle with bacon and serve.

8 cups torn leaf lettuce or spinach
1/4 cup sliced green onions
Pepper to taste
3 bacon strips, diced
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 hard-boiled large egg, chopped

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine lettuce and onions in a large salad bowl. Sprinkle with pepper; set aside. , In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Stir the vinegar, lemon juice, sugar and salt in drippings. Pour over lettuce and toss gently until well coated. Top with egg. Serve immediately.

4 bacon strips, cut up
1/4 cup white vinegar
2 tablespoons water
2 green onions with tops, sliced
2 teaspoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt

1 hard-boiled large egg, chopped

Steps:

  • In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp. Using a slotted spoon, remove to paper towels to drain. , To the hot drippings, add the vinegar, water, onions, sugar, salt and pepper, stirring until sugar is dissolved. , Place lettuce in a salad bowl; immediately pour dressing over and toss lightly. Top with egg. Serve immediately.

4 -6 slices bacon (may substitute with turkey bacon)
1 medium onion, sliced
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup sour cream
1 (1 ounce) envelope ranch dressing mix
1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
2 cloves garlic
1 head iceberg lettuce, cut into 4 wedges
shredded basil

Steps:

  • Cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp; remove bacon, drain on paper towels, reserving 1 teaspoon drippings in the skillet.
  • Crumble bacon and set aside.
  • Saute onion in hot drippings in skillet over medium heat for 10 minutes or until tender and lightly browned.
  • Remove onions from heat; cool.
  • Process buttermilk and the next 4 ingredients in a blender or food processor until smooth, stopping a few times to scrape down sides.
  • Stir in onion.
  • Top each lettuce wedge with dressing; sprinkle with bacon.
  • Garnish, if desired with a bit of shredded basil.

10 cloves garlic, peeled
1/2 teaspoon cayenne, or to taste
Salt
16 chicken wings
1/4 cup sherry vinegar or other good vinegar, or to taste
6 cups romaine lettuce, washed, dried and torn
Freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Prepare a grill or preheat a broiler; the fire should be moderately hot and the rack 4 to 6 inches from the heat source. Put olive oil in a narrow saucepan and add garlic. Turn heat to medium-low and when garlic begins to sizzle, swirl pan occasionally so the garlic rolls about in the oil. When garlic is lightly browned and tender (a thin-bladed knife will penetrate easily), turn off heat.
  • Combine 2 tablespoons garlic oil with cayenne and a big pinch salt; toss wings in the mixture. Grill or broil, turning occasionally (do not scorch), until wings are crisp and cooked through, about 20 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, once oil has cooled, put it in a blender with the garlic, a pinch salt and vinegar. Blend until smooth; if too thick, add a little more oil, some hot water or, if it is not bright enough for your taste, more vinegar. Toss with greens and black pepper. Serve salad and chicken wings together.

2 quarts iceberg lettuce or leaf lettuce, torn into bite-size pieces (about 2 mediums heads)
1 large tomato, chopped
1/4 cup sliced green onions
1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup vinegar
2 teaspoons sugar

Steps:

  • 1. Melt margarine in medium fry pan over low heat. Stir in paprika, garlic salt and sesame seed. Add Kellogg's® All-Bran® cereal, stirring until well coated. Cook, stirring constantly, 2 minutes or until cereal is crisped and lightly browned. Remove from heat. Add Parmesan cheese, tossing lightly. Set aside.2. Fry bacon until crisp.
