LICORICE LOVERS CHEX MIX



Licorice Lovers Chex Mix image

Bite-size pieces of black licorice add loads of flavor to this mix inspired by the heart of coal country.

1 box (14 oz) Multi-Bran Chex™ cereal
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon coarse (kosher or sea) salt
2 cups small pretzel squares
2 cups dry-roasted peanuts
1 cup black licorice pieces (1/2 inch each)
1 cup red licorice pieces (1/2 inch each)

Steps:

  • In large microwavable bowl, place cereal.
  • In 1-cup microwavable measuring cup, microwave butter uncovered on High about 30 seconds or until melted. Pour over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Sprinkle salt over cereal. Microwave uncovered on High 3 to 4 minutes, stirring every minute.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool. Store in airtight container.

6 tablespoons butter or 6 tablespoons margarine
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons seasoning salt
3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
3 cups Corn Chex
3 cups Rice Chex
3 cups Wheat Chex
1 cup mixed nuts
1 cup pretzel
1 cup bite-size garlic bagel chips or 1 cup regular-size bagel chips, broken into 1-inch pieces

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 250 degrees.
  • Melt butter in large roasting pan in oven. Stir in seasonings. Gradually stir in remaining ingredients until evenly coated.
  • Bake 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Spread on paper towels to cool. Store in airtight container.
