LIME-MARINATED GRILLED SALMON



Lime-Marinated Grilled Salmon image

The fresh lime juice and mustard add a nice tang to this moist and flaky grilled salmon. I came up with this marinade after tasting something similar at a friend's house and it is now one of our favorite ways to do fish. You may also use other firm fish steaks instead of salmon; halibut, tuna and swordfish all work well.

¼ cup fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
⅛ teaspoon black pepper
4 salmon steaks

Steps:

  • Whisk together the lime juice, olive oil, mustard, ginger, garlic, cayenne pepper, and black pepper in a bowl, and pour into a resealable plastic bag. Add the salmon steaks, coat with the marinade, squeeze out excess air, and seal the bag. Marinate in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium heat, and lightly oil grate. Remove the salmon from marinade, and shake off excess. Discard remaining marinade.
  • Grill until the fish flakes easily with a fork, 5 to 10 minutes per side depending on thickness.

Grilled Salmon with Garlic Lime Butter and eat like you're on vacation! Go-To Grilled Salmon recipe - easy, flaky and so juicy!

1/2 cup unsalted butter ((8 Tbsp))
4 cloves garlic (smashed (NOT PRESSED))
2 Tbsp lime juice ((from 1 lime)plus lime wedges to serve)
2 Tbsp dill (chopped, plus more to garnish)
1 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
2 lbs salmon filet (skin-on, cut into 6 portions)

Steps:

  • In a sauce pan, melt 1/2 cup butter over medium heat. Smash 4 garlic cloves with the flat side of a knife and add to saucepan with 1 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp pepper. Simmer 1 min or until fragrant. Add chopped dill and 2 Tbsp lime juice then immediately remove from heat.
  • Arrange salmon fillets on a platter skin-side-down and spoon on 1/3 of butter sauce and brush over the tops. Let salmon marinate while preheating grill.
  • Preheat grill to medium heat (350˚F to 400˚F). Oil the hot grates. Place salmon onto preheated grill, skin-side-up. Cover and grill over medium (350˚F) heat undisturbed, about 3 minutes on the first side.
  • Carefully flip salmon over (it helps to have a spatula to loosen it and tongs to flip it over), brush on 1/3 of butter sauce then cover and cook another 2 minutes (or according to salmon grilling chart), until internal temperature reaches 140˚F (the temperature will continue to rise to an ideal 145˚F internal temperature off the grill).
  • Transfer salmon to a platter and drizzle with remaining 1/3 of sauce in saucepan (if butter has hardened, heat on the stovetop just until melted). Garnish with fresh dill and serve with lime wedges to squeeze over salmon.

I make this on our George Foreman Grill and serve it with rice and grilled zucchini, it's fabulous! When I haven't cleaned the grill yet and I'm feeling lazy, I broil it or fry it, it works just as well.

2 salmon fillets
3 large garlic cloves, pressed
1/2 cup lime juice (I use realemon brand)
1 teaspoon dill weed
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon fresh coarse ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Place salmon in a flat tupperware container large enough to accomodate the filets in one layer.
  • Press garlic directly onto salmon to save dishes.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients.
  • Put lid on container, shake gently to distribute marinade.
  • Let sit for 10-15 minutes.
  • Grill for 4 minutes (more for thicker filets) and enjoy!

0.25 cup Butter / beurre
1 Garlic clove / ail
1 tsp Lime zest / zeste de lime
1 tbsp Fresh lime juice / jus de lime fraîchement pressé
4 Salmon fillets
1 tbsp Canola oil / huile de canola
0.5 tsp Salt / sel
1 pinch Black pepper / poivre

Steps:

  • HowToStep
  • Mash butter and garlic together with a fork in a medium bowl. Stir in lime zest and juice until combined. ##Preheat barbecue to high. ##Brush salmon all over with oil. Place, skin-side down, on one side of grill. Sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Turn burner under salmon down to low, leaving other side on at high. Barbecue, lid closed, until an instant-read thermometer inserted into thickest part of fish reads 158°F, about 15 minutes. ##Using a metal spatula, scrape between salmon skin and grill to release fillets. Transfer to a platter. Top each fillet with a dollop of lime butter. ##Make-ahead tip: Lime butter can be made up to 2 days in advance. 1 teaspoon finely grated lime rind
1/4 cup lime juice (about 1 large lime)
2 teaspoons vegetable oil (Becel)
1 teaspoon minced fresh ginger
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and finely minced
2 (6 ounce) salmon steaks

Steps:

  • Whisk together lime rind, lime juice, oil, ginger and jalapeno.
  • Set aside a teaspoon of the mixture.
  • Place salmon steaks in a dish just large enough to hold them.
  • Pour remaining lime juice mixture over salmon and turn to coat.
  • Marinate at room temperature for 15 minutes, turnig once (Do not marinate longer than 30 minutes or the salmon will go mushy).
  • Preheat bbq to medium high and grease grill.
  • Bbq salmon turning once, until cooked through, about 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
  • Remove to platter and spoon reserved lime juice mixture over salmon.
  • Serve immediately.
  • If you wish to broil salmon, place on a rack set over a pan.
  • Broil about 4 inches from heat, turning once, until salmon is cooked through, about 3 to 4 minutes per side.

Steps:

  • Preheat grill for medium heat and lightly oil the grate.
  • Pour sugar into a saucepan; press halved lemons and limes cut-side down into the sugar.
  • Set the saucepan with remaining sugar on grill; stir in 2 cups of water and whisk over the heat until dissolved into a syrup. Let cool.
