MULLED APPLE CIDER

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 gallon apple cider
3 Granny Smith apples
1 orange
1/2 cup fresh cranberries
1 tablespoon allspice berries
5 to 7 cinnamon sticks
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup apple brandy or regular brandy

Steps:

  • Pour the apple cider into a large pot and set over medium-high heat. Dice up the apples and toss them into the cider. Peel the rind off the orange in large pieces and toss that in too. Add the cranberries, allspice berries and cinnamon sticks. Add the sugar and stir it around to dissolve. Bring the mixture to a low boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • Add the brandy, then simmer for another 10 to 15 minutes. Serve warm.

Here's what you need: gala apples, green apples, cinnamon sticks, ginger, whole clove, kosher salt, water, brown sugar

12 gala apples, or fuji apples, cored and cubed
2 green apples, cored and cubed
3 cinnamon sticks
1 ginger, thumb sized, peeled
2 teaspoons whole clove
1 pinch kosher salt
8 cups water
1 cup brown sugar

Steps:

  • Place the apples, cinnamon sticks, ginger, cloves, and salt in an 8-quart (7.5-liters) slow cooker. Pour the water over the apples.
  • Cover and cook on high for at least 8 hours, or overnight (up to 24 hours).
  • Remove the solids from the cider, pressing the pulp to extract as much liquid as possible.
  • Whisk in the brown sugar until dissolved.
  • Serve hot, or store in the refrigerator to serve later. Reheat before serving.
  • Enjoy!

I'm almost embarassed to post this, but since it's my one of my DD's favorite dishes I thought I should post it maybe someone else will like it too. And maybe it's gonna help another mom with a picky eater. Change the quantities, I only guessed. I'm glad if my DD eats the tuna, so sometimes is less rice,sometimes more. She can't eat this much at once, maybe twice.

Steps:

  • Scoop the tuna on top of the hot plain rice. We tried it with short and long grain and it was fine.
