This meatloaf taste like buffet style meatloaf. The hot sausage is a must for that hint of spicy taste .

1 lb uncooked hot pork sausage
1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 large onion, small diced
1 egg
1 cup soft breadcrumbs
Manwich sloppy joe mix
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • In large mixing bowl add sausage,beef and onion.
  • lightly mix in egg, breadcrumbs, salt and pepper.
  • add the Manwich sauce, mix well,.
  • reserve small amount of Manwich for last 15 minutes of cooking for the topping.
  • Shape loaf In a shallow baking dish.
  • pour out excess liquid every 15 minutes Bake at 350 for 45 mins.,.

I really dig Manwich, but the canned stuff gives me the tummy ache sometimes. When I found this clone recipe, I decided to try it to see if it gave me the tummy ache too. NOPE!! I was pleased! It may take a little more effort than opening a can, but for me, it's worth it. Also, you know this stuff is fresh and you never know how long that other stuff has been in a can.

1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1 tablespoon green pepper, chopped fine
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon mustard
1 lb ground beef

Steps:

  • Fry the beef and drain the fat.
  • Add remaining ingredients to the skillet and bring to a boil.
  • Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Serve on toasted buns with your favorite condiments.
  • Mine are cheese and mustard with pickles and chips on the side.

1 can (15 oz each) Manwich® Original Sloppy Joe Sauce, divided
1/2 cup Egg Beaters® Original
1/2 cup dry unseasoned bread crumbs or 1 cup fresh bread crumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Directions Preheat oven to 375°F. Spray 13x9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Set aside 3/4 cup Sloppy Joe sauce. Mix remaining Sloppy Joe sauce, Egg Beaters, bread crumbs, onion, salt and pepper in large bowl until well blended. Add beef; mix just until combined. Shape meat mixture into a 9x5-inch rectangle in baking dish, pressing together firmly and flattening top. Spoon reserved Sloppy Joe sauce over top of meat mixture. Bake 40 minutes or until cooked through (160°F). Let stand 10 minutes before slicing. Cook's Tips To make 1 cup fresh bread crumbs, tear 2 slices firm bread into quarters and place in food processor. 1 can(s) 15oz manwich divided
1/2 c egg beaters orginal
1 c bread crumbs
1/4 c minced onion
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp peper
1-1/2 lb ground beef

Steps:

  • 1. Spray 13" x 9" dish with Pam. Reserve 3/4 Cup Manwich Sauce. Mix remaining Manwich Sauce, Egg Beaters, bread crumbs, onion, salt and pepper in bowl. Mix in beef until combined.
  • 2. From 9"x 5" loaf in dish. Spoon measured Manwich Sauce over loaf. Bake 375 F 40 Minutes or until done.

1 carrot, coarsely chopped
1 rib celery, coarsely chopped
½ onion, coarsely chopped
½ red bell pepper, coarsely chopped
4 white mushrooms, coarsely chopped
3 cloves garlic, coarsely chopped
2 ½ pounds ground chuck
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 cup plain bread crumbs
1 teaspoon olive oil
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
hot pepper sauce to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
  • Place the carrot, celery, onion, red bell pepper, mushrooms, and garlic in a food processor, and pulse until very finely chopped, almost to a puree. Place the minced vegetables into a large mixing bowl, and mix in ground chuck, Worcestershire sauce, and egg. Add Italian herbs, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix gently with a wooden spoon to incorporate vegetables and egg into the meat. Pour in bread crumbs. With your hand, gently mix in the crumbs with your fingertips just until combined, about 1 minute.
  • Form the meatloaf into a ball. Pour olive oil into a baking dish and place the ball of meat into the dish. Shape the ball into a loaf, about 4 inches high by 6 inches across.
  • Bake in the preheated oven just until the meatloaf is hot, about 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, ketchup, Dijon mustard, and hot sauce. Stir until the brown sugar has dissolved.
  • Remove the meatloaf from the oven. With the back of a spoon, smooth the glaze onto the top of the meatloaf, then pull a little bit of glaze down the sides of the meatloaf with the back of the spoon.
  • Return meatloaf to oven, and bake until the loaf is no longer pink inside and the glaze has baked onto the loaf, 30 to 40 more minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the loaf should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C). Cooking time will depend on shape and thickness of the meatloaf.

  • Heat olive oil in a medium/large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and bell pepper and cook, stirring, until softened, 5 to 7 minutes. Add garlic and chipotle chili and cook for about another minute.
  • Add the tomato sauce, tomato paste, vinegar, adobo sauce, brown sugar, cumin, salt, and cinnamon and cook, stirring, for about 5 minutes.
  • If you want a smooth sauce, like the canned sloppy joe sauce, let cool for a bit then puree in a blender until smooth. You may also pour it into a container and blend with a stick blender. Set sauce aside while you cook the ground beef.
  • Heat a medium/large skillet over medium heat (I just wash and reuse the skillet I used for the sauce) and add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula or wooden spoon. Cook until mostly done, but still a little pink (the meat will finish cooking in the sauce). While the beef is cooking, season with another 1/2 teaspoon of salt, some fresh ground black pepper, and pinch of crushed red pepper.
