Bacon is turning up everywhere these days, even in desserts. This shake, with plenty of bacon and a hint of maple syrup, will appeal to the true bacon aficionado.

3 tablespoons real maple syrup
2 slices bacon, cooked
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1/2 cup milk

Steps:

  • In 1-quart saucepan, heat syrup and 1 slice of the bacon over medium heat 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat; set aside to infuse bacon flavor into syrup.
  • In blender, place ice cream and milk. Cover; blend on medium speed until combined.
  • Remove bacon from syrup; discard bacon. Add syrup to milk mixture; blend on low speed to combine.
  • Divide milkshake evenly between 2 glasses. Crumble remaining slice of cooked bacon; sprinkle over tops of milkshakes.

Every scrumptious mouthful of rich mapley vanilla melts away to into salty-savory maple-candied bacon bliss, so don't wait: Start shakin' your bacon and get makin' this milkshake!

cooking spray
8 slices bacon, divided
½ cup pure maple syrup, divided
1 cup milk
4 cups French vanilla ice cream
½ cup whipped cream, or to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Line and cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a baking rack on top of foil layer and spray rack with cooking spray.
  • Place 4 bacon slices on the prepared rack. Coat 1 side of each slice with 1 tablespoon maple syrup using a pastry brush. Take ends of each strip and twist in opposite directions until the syrup-glazed side is twisted into the interior and the bacon is coiled tight. Place toothpicks in each end of bacon strips to hold in place.
  • Bake bacon in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove baking sheet from oven and brush the twisted bacon with another 1 tablespoon maple syrup. Continue baking until cooked through and crispy, about 5 minutes more. Remove baking sheet from oven and cool bacon.
  • Place the remaining 4 bacon slices in a skillet over medium heat; cook, flipping occasionally, until crispy, about 5 minutes. Keep bacon grease in the skillet.
  • Transfer the bacon slices from the skillet to a saucepan, pouring about 1 tablespoon bacon grease into the saucepan. Add the remaining 6 tablespoons maple syrup to saucepan. Cook and stir bacon maple syrup over medium heat until flavors have combined, 3 to 4 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and cool, allowing bacon flavor to infuse into the syrup, about 10 minutes.
  • Remove bacon from maple syrup and place on a work surface; chop into bits.
  • Combine bacon-infused maple syrup and milk in a blender; blend on low until combined. Add ice cream and blend on medium until mixed, but still thick. Add most of the bacon bits and stir until incorporated into the milkshake.
  • Pour milkshake into 4 glasses and top each with 1 tablespoon whipped cream. Sprinkle remaining bacon bits over whipped cream and garnish each with a bacon twist.

Move over pumpkin spice--make room for this maple bacon latte! Sweet with a hint of salty, this easy DIY pick-me-up screams sweater weather. Just when you thought you weren't a morning person, this latte might change your mind.

6 strips bacon
1 cup pure maple syrup
1 cup whole milk
2 oz espresso
ground cinnamon, for garnish

Steps:

  • Make the maple bacon syrup: Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil.
  • Arrange the bacon in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15-17 minutes, until crispy. Transfer the bacon to a cutting board, blot with a paper towel to absorb any excess grease, and roughly chop.
  • Transfer the bacon to a small saucepan, along with the maple syrup. Bring to a gentle boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes, or until thickened slightly. Remove the pot from the heat and let the syrup sit for 15-20 minutes. (The longer it sits, the more bacon flavor the syrup will have.) Strain the syrup into an airtight container, reserving the candied bacon bits. The syrup will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Make the maple bacon latte: Working in batches if needed, add the milk to a milk frother and set to the steam setting. Steam until hot. (Alternatively, warm the milk on the stove in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until beginning to steam. Using a handheld immersion blender, blend on low speed until frothy.)
  • In a coffee mug, stir together the espresso and 2 tablespoons of maple bacon syrup. Pour in steamed milk until the mug is ¾ full, then top with foam. Garnish with some of the candied bacon bits and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon. Serve immediately.
  • Enjoy!

1 to 2 tablespoons good maple syrup

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Place a baking rack on a sheet pan and arrange the bacon in 1 layer on the baking rack. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the bacon begins to brown. Remove the pan carefully from the oven; there will be hot grease in the pan! Brush the bacon slices with maple syrup and bake for another 3 to 5 minutes, until the bacon is a warm golden brown. Transfer the bacon to a plate lined with paper towels and serve warm.

4 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
1/3 cup chopped pecans, toasted
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 to 1 teaspoon maple flavoring, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy, 5-7 minutes. Beat in eggs, milk and vanilla. Combine flour, oats, baking powder and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture. Fold in bacon and pecans. , Spread into a greased 9-in. square baking pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 20-25 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. For glaze, in a small bowl, mix confectioners' sugar, syrup and if desired, maple flavoring. Drizzle over bars; let stand until set.

4 strips bacon
1 ½ tablespoons pure maple syrup, divided
2 lb russet potato, peeled and cut into 2 in pieces (5 cm)
cold water, for cooking potatoes
1 tablespoon kosher salt, divided. plus 1 1/2 teaspoons
⅓ cup whole milk, plus more as needed
⅓ cup heavy cream, plus more as needed
1 stick unsalted butter

Steps:

  • Cook the bacon in a small nonstick skillet over medium heat, turning occasionally, until crisp, about 4 minutes. Transfer the bacon to a paper towel-lined plate with tongs to drain, reserving the bacon grease.
  • Chop the bacon strips into pieces, then transfer to a small bowl and toss with ½ tablespoon of maple syrup. Set aside.
  • Add the potatoes to a large pot and cover with cold water by 1 inch (2.5 cm). Add 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 minutes, until the potatoes are easily pierced with a fork. Drain the potatoes and return to the pot.
  • Add the milk, heavy cream, butter, and reserved bacon grease to a small saucepan and cook over medium-low heat until the butter melts.
  • Mash the potatoes with a potato masher or ricer. Pour in the warm milk mixture and stir until smooth. Add the remaining tablespoon of maple syrup and remaining 1½ teaspoons of salt and stir to combine. Add more milk or heavy cream if the potatoes are too stiff.
  • Transfer the potatoes to a large serving bowl, top with the maple-coated bacon, and serve.
