Enjoy the alluring taste of a tamarind margarita. This fabulous tequila cocktail offers a unique, tantalizing flavor and can be blended or shaken.

Garnish: chili powder (for rim)
1 1/2 ounces blanco tequila
1/2 ounce orange liqueur
1 ounce tamarind nectar
1/2 ounce simple syrup
1 cup crushed ice

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • Rim a chilled margarita glass with Tajin: wet the rim with a piece of citrus fruit, then roll rim in a small dish of chili powder.
  • In a blender , combine tequila, orange liqueur, tamarind nectar, simple syrup, and crushed ice.
  • Blend until smooth .
  • Pour into prepared glass and garnish with lime wheel.

1 tablespoon fruit powder seasoning, such as Tajin
1 tablespoon sea salt
1 tablespoon sugar
Ice, for chilling and serving
1 cup silver tequila, such as Herradura
3/4 cup fresh lime juice
6 tablespoons raw sugar
1/4 cup orange liqueur
1 teaspoon tamarind puree
Lime wedges, for serving

Steps:

  • Combine the fruit powder seasoning, salt and sugar in a shallow dish. Pour 1/4 cup water into a second shallow dish. Dip the rim of your glasses into the water first, and then into the fruit powder mixture to rim the glass. Place large ice cubes into a cocktail shaker, and then add the tequila, lime juice, raw sugar and orange liqueur. Shake well. Spoon the tamarind puree into the bottom of each glass, fill with ice cubes and pour the margarita mixture over. Serve with lime wedges.

  • Rub the rim of a glass with lime and dip in Tajín. Combine 1 1/2 ounces reposado tequila (such as El Jimador), 1 1/2 ounces tamarind puree, 1/2 ounce agave nectar and 1/4 ounce fresh lime juice in a shaker with ice; shake until cold. Fill the prepared glass with ice, then strain the drink into the glass. Garnish with a lime slice.

1 lime wedge
2 ounces tamarind puree
1 ounce tequila
1/2 ounce Cointreau liqueur
1/2 ounce simple syrup
6 -10 ice cubes

Steps:

  • Rub lime wedge around rim of margarita glass or martini glass. Dip rim in chile salt and set aside.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine the tamarind, tequila, cointreau, syrup and ice.
  • Shake vigorously til frothy and cold, at least 15 seconds to allow tiny ice crystals to form in the drink.
  • Strain into salt-crusted glass and serve immediately.
