This Frozen Old Fashioned Slush recipe takes the classic cocktail to a new, and dare I say it, much cooler level. Made with bourbon, this a refreshing and flavorful slush recupe that can be served any time of the year.

Ingredients

6 cups water
1 cup sugar
2 cups bourbon ((My favorite is Four Roses.))
12 ounces (one can) frozen orange juice concentrate (thaweed)
2 tablespoons Luxardo cherry juice*
1/4 cup bitters
Lemon-lime soda ((1/4 cup per serving) )
Orange slice and Luxardo cherries*

Steps:

Start by adding the water and sugar to a large saucepan. Stir continuously and bring to a boil. Cook until the sugar is dissolved. This will take about five minutes. Allow to cool completely.
Next, stir in the bourbon, orange juice concentrate, cherry juice, and bitters. Pour this mixture into a freezer-safe baking dish that will hold at least 3 quarts. Freeze for 10-12 hours or overnight. If possible, stir the mixture with a fork once or twice during the freezing process.
To serve, place about 3/4 cup of the Old Fashioned mixture in a glass. Top with about 1/4 cup lemon-lime soda. Garnish with an orange slice and a cherry.

These drinks can be deceivingly strong. They are very sweet and fruity tasting. So don't drink and drive. Serve with great food and enjoy. I recommend using cherry or apricot brandy.

¾ cup vodka
¾ cup brandy
1 (6 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate
1 (12 fluid ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
2 (10 ounce) jars maraschino cherries
32 ounces grapefruit flavored soda
67 fluid ounces lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

Steps:

Mix vodka, brandy, orange and lemon juice concentrate, cherries and grapefruit soda together in a large plastic mixing bowl. Cover the mixture with a tight fitting lid. Freeze the mixture for one or two days.
When you are ready to serve the drink, use an ice cream scoop and place one or two scoops of the mixture into glasses. Fill the rest of the glass with lemon/lime flavored soda pop. Stir and serve.

6 ripe medium red tomatoes (about 1-1/4 pounds total)
Salt
Celery salt
1 red bell pepper, seeded and diced
1 to 1 1/2 cups tomato juice or vegetable-tomato juice
1 lemon, halved
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons prepared horseradish
Hot pepper sauce
Garnish: celery sticks, trimmed green onions, and skewered cherry tomatoes
Vodka, optional

Steps:

Peel and seed tomatoes, then chop coarsely. Put chopped tomatoes in a large sealable freezer bag, squeeze out excess air, and freeze tomatoes in a single layer until solid.
Mix equal parts salt and celery salt in a saucer. Put cold water in another saucer. Dip rims of large cocktail or highball glasses in water, then in salt mixture to coat.
Remove frozen tomato cubes from freezer and let thaw for 1 or 2 minutes so you can break them into manageable size chunks. Put tomato chunks in a blender with red bell pepper, 1 cup tomato juice, and the juice from half the lemon. Season with Worcestershire, horseradish, and hot sauce, to taste. Whirl just until slushy. Taste, and add more lemon juice or tomato juice. as necessary. Pour into prepared glasses, add vodka, if desired, and garnish with celery sticks, green onions, and tomato skewers.
