MICHELADA (SPICY MEXICAN BEER)



Michelada (Spicy Mexican Beer) image

This is a fiery, easy-to-make Michelada recipe that is a great option for anyone disappointed in the watered down versions on the market.

1 12 ounce beer
2 teaspoons Valentina hot sauce
juice of 1 lime (approx. 2 tablespoons)
1/4 teaspoon horseradish
splash of adobo sauce (optional)
salt
chipotle powder

Steps:

  • Add a thin layer of salt to small plate along with dashes of chipotle powder. Combine well.
  • Rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass and dredge it in the salt. (I usually only rub the lime around half of the glass.)
  • Add 2 teaspoons of hot sauce (Valentina) to the glass, along with the juice of 1 lime, 1/4 teaspoon horseradish sauce, freshly cracked black pepper, and a splash of adobo sauce (optional).
  • Combine well and serve immediately.

2 tsp tajin
¼ cup lime juice ((start with 2 tbsp add as needed))
½-¾ cup clamato juice
4 drops hot sauce
4 drops worcestershire sauce
1 (12 ounce) Mexican beer

Steps:

  • In a bowl or on a small plate combine the salt and tajin. Rub a lime wedge along the rim of the glass. Dip the rim of the glass into the tajin mixture.
  • Add ice to the glass.
  • Pour the lime juice, clamato juice, hot sauce, worcesterhire, and beer. Stir to combine. Taste and adjust as needed.

1 bottle Mexican lager beer (12 oz.)
5 drops Worcestershire sauce (add or subtract to taste)
5 drops Maggi sauce (add or subtract to taste)
1 tbsp. lime juice (juice from about 1/2 a lime)
2 tbsp. salt (to frost the rim of the glass)
3 ice cubes (lg.)

Steps:

  • Squeeze the juice of half a lime into a small bowl.
  • Then, dip the rim of the glass into the lime juice.
  • Lastly, dip the rim of the glass in the salt.
  • Add 3 ice cubes to your beer glass.
  • Add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce.
  • Add a few drops of Maggi sauce.
  • Add the lime juice.
  • Pour your beer into your glass.
  • Enjoy!
