2 bags of butter pop secret microwave popcorn or 2 bags popcorn, popped
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Steps:

  • Pour popped corn into a large bowl and set aside.
  • Combine remaining ingredients, except soda, in a 2 quart microwavable bowl.
  • Microwave on high for 2 minutes, then stir.
  • Microwave again on high.
  • Watch it, and when it begins to boil, microwave 1 minute longer.
  • Remove from microwave and stir in baking soda.
  • Pour mixture over popped corn and stir to distribute.
  • Enjoy!

4 quarts popped popcorn
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup margarine
¼ cup light corn syrup
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ teaspoon baking soda

Steps:

  • Place the popped popcorn into a large brown paper bag. Set aside.
  • In a 2 quart casserole dish, or other heat-proof glass dish, combine the brown sugar, margarine, corn syrup, salt and vanilla. Heat for 3 minutes in the microwave, then take out and stir until well blended. Return to the microwave, and cook for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from microwave, and stir in the baking soda.
  • Pour syrup over the popcorn in the bag. Roll down the top once or twice to close the bag, and shake to coat the corn. Place bag into the microwave, and cook for 1 minute and 10 seconds. Remove, shake, flip the bag over, and return it to the microwave. Cook for another 1 minute and 10 seconds. Dump the popcorn out onto waxed paper, and let cool until coating is set. Store in an airtight container.

1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Steps:

  • Place the popped popcorn in a large brown paper bag.
  • In a 2-quart casserole or heat-proof glass dish, stir the brown sugar, margarine, corn syrup, salt, and vanilla until combined. Heat in the microwave for 3 minutes at 1-minute intervals, stirring well in between. Stir in the baking soda until combined.
  • Pour the syrup over the popcorn and seal the bag by rolling the top once or twice. Give the bag a good shake to coat the popcorn with the syrup well.
  • Place the bag in the microwave and cook for 1 minute and 10 seconds on high powder. Shake the bag vigorously and microwave for another 1 minute and 10 seconds. Transfer the popcorn onto a piece of parchment or wax paper. Let the coated popcorn cool and set. Enjoy!

Steps:

  • Place the popped popcorn into a large brown paper bag. Set aside. In a 2-quart casserole dish, or other heatproof glass dish, combine the brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, vanilla extract and salt. Heat at full power for 3 minutes in the microwave, then take out and stir until well blended. Return to the microwave, and cook for 1 minute and 30 seconds more. Remove from the microwave, and stir in the baking soda. Pour the syrup mixture over the popcorn in the bag. Roll down the top once or twice to close the bag, and shake to coat the popcorn. Place bag into the microwave, and cook for 1 minute 10 seconds. Remove, shake, flip the bag over and return it to the microwave. Cook for another 1 minute and 10 seconds. I am required to bring this to all family gatherings since I started making it. It is addicting!! This is the quick take on the regular Caramel Puffcorn recipe a - for when you don't have an hour to prepare it. This version takes only 10-15 minutes, depending on your microwave. Again, it is addicting! NOTE*** Be sure you get the caramel mixture to HARD CRACK stage, or it will not set with a crispy outer caramel layer. This is especially important in humid climates.

1 (8 ounce) bag puff corn (found in chip aisle)
1 cup butter (do not substitute)
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 teaspoon baking soda
cooking spray (sort of optional)

Steps:

  • Have a large paper bag handy, spread some wax paper on your table, grab your ingredients and here we go!
  • Melt butter with brown sugar and corn syrup in a 2 quart glass bowl in the microwave for about 1 minute. Stirl well and continue cooking the caramel to 310-320 degrees. This will take about 3 minutes (depending on your microwave) - stir every minute to blend the butter in evenly. The caramel must get to hard crack stage. I have a microwave thermometer that I use to test the temperature., but you can also test it by dripping a bit of the caramel into a cup of cold water.
  • Add in the baking soda and stir - this will cause the caramel to expand and get "fluffy"! This may be what makes it addicting.
  • Quickly spray your paper bag with cooking spray, dump your puffcorn into the bag followed by the caramel, and shake like mad! I use oven mitts during this stage to keep my hands from getting burned. Place the bag in the microwave for 1 minute. Shake well. Another minute in the microwave, shake well. A final minute and shake well! Feel free to dance while shaking the bag.
  • Spread the puffcorn out over the waxed paper and let cool completely. When it is cool, break it apart if needed and it's ready to eat. Did I mention it's addicting? Don't say I didn't warn you!

  • Pop popcorn, remove seeds and place in a large store sized paper bag. Set aside. In a microwave safe bowl, add butter, corn syrup, brown sugar and salt. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir. Microwave on high for 4 minutes. Stir. Add vanilla and baking soda and stir well. Pour over popcorn in brown paper bag. Roll shut and shake well. Place paper bag with popcorn in it into the microwave and cook on high for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove from microwave and shake well. Pour onto a jelly roll cookie sheet and spread out. Allow to cool and eat immediately!
