Ultimate flapjack recipe image

The ultimate flapjack with condensed milk twist to help sweeten and keep it sticky

Provided by Emma

Categories     Dessert

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 5

250 g porridge oats (rolled oats, jumbo if available)
150 g unsalted butter
2 tbsp golden syrup
50 g brown sugar (soft brown or demerara according to taste)
half tin condensed milk

Steps:

  • Melt the butter, sugar and golden syrup in a large microwavable bowl. Alternatively you can use a saucepan on the hob instead.
  • Add the condensed milk and stir in
  • Off the heat, fold in the porridge oats. Tip into a greased glass dish or baking tin lined with greaseproof paper and flatten the top
  • Bake at 160C for around 15-20 minutes, until the flapjack turns golden brown. It should still be a little soft on top when removed from the oven. It will get more firm on cooling.
  • Cut into 16 pieces.

CONDENSED MILK FLAPJACKS

Condensed Milk Flapjacks image

These condensed milk flapjacks are the delicious, soft and chewy kind of flapjacks we all want when we make flapjacks at home. I use this recipe for every type of flapjack I would need. Party flapjacks, Christmas flapjacks, Easter flapjacks or even I'm hungry and I'd love a flapjack, flapjack.

Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 5

200 g condensed milk
300 g unsalted butter
250 g golden caster sugar
3 tbsp golden syrup
600 g oats

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 160ºC and line 9 x 12 inch tin with greaseproof paper. It's so much easier for getting them out.
  • Add the butter, golden syrup, caster sugar and condensed milk to a saucepan and on a low heat melt together. Keep stirring to make sure it doesn't stick or burn.
  • Keep stirring to make sure it doesn't stick or burn.
  • Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the oats. Plus any flavours, dried fruit or nuts you want.
  • Spoon the mix into the tin and level off.
  • Bake in the oven for about 20 minutes until light golden brown.
  • When freshly baked from the oven gently cut them and leave them to cool.

Moist flapjack with condensed milk image

This recipe makes enough flapjack for two hungry children for several weeks of school lunches.

Provided by Dominic Sayers

Categories     Snack

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 4

1kg porridge oats
400g condensed milk
500g soft brown sugar
500g butter

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 150C fan.
  • Line a large baking tin with baking parchment (my tin measures 39cm x 26cm).
  • Melt the butter and sugar in a large pan over a low heat. Don't cook the butter, just warm it enough to melt it.
  • Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the condensed milk.
  • Mix in the oats until well coated by the mixture.
  • Pour into the baking tin and smooth out with the back of a large spoon.
  • Cook for about 15-20 minutes. When the flapjack starts to brown around the edges of the tin, take it out of the oven - it should still be relatively pale in the middle.
  • Leave to cool for a few minutes before cutting into pieces.

CHEWY FLAPJACKS

Chewy Flapjacks image

A basic flapjack recipe. Add to it anything you like: grated apple and cinnamon, mixed seeds, sultanas, raisins, cranberries, etc. You could drizzle melted chocolate over the top, once it's cooled.

Provided by sugreen

Time 30m

Yield Makes 12 squares

Number Of Ingredients 4

375g unsalted butter or baking margarine
225g golden syrup
200g soft brown sugar
500g porridge oats

Steps:

  • Set oven to gas mark 3, 160 C.
  • Grease a 20x30cm baking tray and line the bottom with baking parchment.
  • In a large saucepan melt butter, sugar and syrup until all mixed and runny.
  • Take the saucepan off the heat and stir in the oats until all combined.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking tray and smooth even with a spatula.
  • Place in the centre of the pre-heated oven and bake for 20 - 25 minutes, until golden. (If you prefer a more chewy flapjack, it should still have a slight wobble when you take it out of the oven).
  • Allow to cool in the tin for 15 minutes, then mark lightly where you want to cut into squares. Cover with a clean tea towel until completely cooled.
  • Cut into squares and turn out.
