2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
One 14-ounce can sweetened condensed milk
One 5.1-ounce box instant vanilla pudding
2 cups very cold half-and-half
1 cup sour cream
Pinch sea salt
One 12-ounce tin or 16-ounce box butter cookies
1 cup prepared caramel sauce
6 large bananas, sliced

Steps:

  • In a chilled bowl, with chilled beaters, beat the cream and confectioners' sugar together until soft peaks.
  • Whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, pudding mix, half-and-half, sour cream and the salt in a large bowl.
  • Reserve 4 to 6 cookies for garnish and layer half of the remaining cookies among the bottom of 4 to 6 16-ounce serving dishes (or mason jars), or in a trifle bowl (or other large glass serving dish). Next, drizzle half of the caramel over the cookies, then a layer of half the bananas, then half the pudding mixture. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients. Top with the whipped cream and a butter cookie or cookies. Serve or chill up to overnight.

3T butter
1 1/2C sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2t baking powder
1/2t ground cinnamon
1/8t salt
3/4C milk
1C pitted chopped dates
1/2C chopped walnuts
2t vanilla
1/2t grated orange rind
2C boiling water
1c brown sugar

Steps:

  • Mix granulated sugar and 1T of butter. Sift flour, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Blend in with sugar mixture alternately with milk. Stir in dates, walnuts, vanilla and orange rind. Pour into buttered dish. Combine boiling water, brown sugar and 2T remaining butter in a sauce pan; heat to bubbling stage; pour over batter; bake at 350 for 45 minutes and or until top is firm.

2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups white sugar
¼ cup shortening
2 eggs
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup chopped walnuts
1 ½ cups chopped pitted dates
1 ¾ cups hot brewed coffee (secret ingredient)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 8x4 inch loaf pans, or line with parchment paper.
  • Sift the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt into a bowl, and set aside. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar and shortening. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Toss the walnuts and dates with the dry ingredients, and stir into the sugar mixture alternately with the hot coffee. Divide the batter evenly between the two loaf pans.
  • Bake for 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

1 egg

This is a traditional style pudding. It was passed down through the family on my father's side. It is a Christmas tradition we love! It is best to bake this at least a day before serving. The taste and texture becomes even richer the longer you wait. It actually requires no refrigeration, just keep the lid on it. Be prepared to have your blood sugar soar!

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup dark brown sugar
1 cup evaporated milk
3 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup of non-pitted baking dates
1 cup of chopped walnuts
2 cups light brown sugar or 2 cups dark brown sugar (I like light)
1 1/2 cups hot water
1 tablespoon butter

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • For the Dough: Mix the Part 1 ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
  • Mix the Part 2 ingredients in another large bowl.
  • Now add the Part 2 to the Part 1 ingredients.
  • Mix well.
  • For the Syrup: Mix all the syrup ingredients in a non-reactive sauce pan.
  • Bring the syrup to a fast boil.
  • Pour the syrup into a large oven-safe dish.
  • (We use a large deep Visions cookware casserole dish) Baking: Put the dough mixture into the middle of the syrup.
  • Just mound it there.
  • DO NOT SPREAD IT.
  • Take a sheet of foil and double it up and place on the center rack.
  • This is to protect from any run off or overflow.
  • Place the dish into the oven on center rack on top of foil.
  • Bake for 35 minutes.
  • Remove, cover, and let cool.
  • Serve in small portions with Whipped cream, it will cut the sweetness and complement the richness best.

1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar, divided
1 cup water
1 tablespoon butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk

1/2 cup chopped walnuts
Whipped cream

Steps:

  • In a saucepan, bring 1 cup brown sugar and water to a boil. Cook and stir for 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and add butter; set aside. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt and remaining brown sugar. Stir in milk until smooth. add dates and walnuts., Pour hot brown sugar syrup into an 8-in. square baking dish. 1 egg

1 1/2 cups brown sugar
