GUINNESS® BREAD
I developed this recipe after visiting my ancestral homeland of Ireland. It's a great way to get Guinness into your bread! Serve warm with butter and honey.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan.
- Mix together the oats, flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. In a separate large bowl, stir together the butter, vanilla, buttermilk, and Guinness® beer. Pour the flour mixture into the beer mixture, and gently stir until well blended. Pour batter into the prepared baking pan, and sprinkle with additional oats if desired.
- Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, then turn the temperature down to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C), and bake for an additional 30 minutes. Turn the oven off, open the door, and allow to cool for 30 minutes in the oven before turning out onto a wire rack.

- Select the basic white bread cycle.
NORWEGIAN LINGONBERRY NUT BREAD
Lingonberries are quite popular in Norway, however if you have problems finding them you can substitute any other berry.

Steps:
- Combine the first 4 ingredients and set aside.
- Use a mixer to blend the remaining ingredients, except the nuts and berries.
- Blend in the flour mixture until the flour completely disappears.
- Then, stir in the nuts and berries.
- You now have two options:.
- Option 1: Make a loaf by pouring the batter into a well-greased 9" X 5" X3" loaf pan, and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour
- Option 2: Make muffins by pouring the batter into 18 paper-lined 2 3/4 inch muffin cups, and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

NORWEGIAN CARDAMOM BREAD BRAIDS

Steps:
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add warm milk, sugar, butter, 2 eggs, cardamom, salt and 6 cups flour; beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1-1/4 hours., Punch dough down; cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Divide into fourths. Divide each portion into thirds; shape each into a 12-in. rope. Place three ropes on a greased baking sheet and braid; pinch ends to seal and tuck under. Repeat with remaining dough. Cover and let rise in a warm place until nearly doubled, about 45 minutes., Preheat oven to 375°. Beat remaining egg; brush over loaves. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake until golden brown, 20-25 minutes. Remove from pans to wire racks.

When my husband became a minister for a church in an area populated with Norwegians, my father-in-law was delighted because I had easy access to recipes he enjoyed as a child. Stir in raisins, citron and enough remaining flour to form a soft dough., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to greased top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour., Punch dough down; divide in half. Shape each portion into a flattened ball. Place in two greased 9-in. round baking pans. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour., Bake at 350° for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans to cool on wire racks.
