Easy Indian Style Okra image

My Indian friend taught me how to make this easy traditional Indian okra recipe using fresh okra and spices in a skillet.

3 tablespoons butter
1 medium onion, chopped
1 pound sliced fresh okra
½ teaspoon ground cumin
½ teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon ground coriander
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
salt to taste

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion, and cook until tender. Stir in the okra, and season with cumin, ginger, coriander, pepper and salt. Cook and stir for a few minutes, then reduce the heat to medium-low, and cover the pan. Cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally until okra is tender.

1 onion, cubed
1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon mango powder
1/4 teaspoon coriander powder
salt
1 small tomatoes, chopped
1 teaspoon oil

Steps:

  • In a non-stick vessel, fry the onion in the oil will dark golden brown or even close to burning Add the okra and then the mustard seeds Saute till okra is almost done Then add all the powders and the salt Mix well and then add the tomato Mix well till the tomato is heated through Serve hot.
