ORANGE LEMONADE
This juice is a favorite at our place. I'll often double the batch and send a jar next door to my mother-in-law! I was looking for a way to sweeten lemonade without using more sugar when I came up with the recipe. -Wendy Masters, Grand Valley, Ontario

Steps:
- In a large saucepan, combine sugar and 2-1/2 cups water; cook and stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Cool slightly., Stir in citrus zest and juices. Let stand, covered, 1 hour. Strain syrup; refrigerate, covered, until cold., To serve, fill glasses or pitcher with equal amounts of fruit syrup and water. Add ice and serve.

- Measure drink mix into cap just to 2-quart line. Place in large plastic or glass pitcher. Add water and orange juice; stir until drink mix is completely dissolved.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Stir in ginger ale just before serving. Serve over ice cubes in tall glasses.

- Wash then slice lemon and put wedges into the jug.
- Crush the mint leaves then place mint leaves on top of the lemon wedges.
- Mix in the optional sweetener.
- Fill jug with ice.
- Pour water and orange juice into the jug.
- Stir well and zesty orange lemonade is ready to be served.

Steps:
- In a large bowl, cream butter and confectioners' sugar until blended. Beat in egg and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flours and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture., Divide dough in half. Mix orange zest and food colorings into 1 half; leave remaining dough plain. Cover each half and refrigerate 1 hour or until firm enough to roll., Preheat oven to 350°. Divide each half into 8 portions. Roll each portion into a 15-in. rope. Place 1 plain rope and 1 orange rope side by side; press together lightly. Cut rope crosswise into 3-in. pieces. Twist each piece several times; place 2 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Repeat with remaining dough. Bake 7-9 minutes or until bottoms are golden brown. Cool on pans 2 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
