Steps:
- Step 1: Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with a handful of ice.
- Step 2: Stir for 20-30 seconds.
- Step 3: Place a large ice cube (or 4-5 smaller cubes) into an old fashioned glass and strain mixture over the top.
- Step 4: Garnish with a thumb sized orange twist.
ORANGE OLD FASHIONED
Steps:
- In a pitcher combine the orange slices, sugar, and cherry syrup. Muddle with a wooden spoon or a muddler, until the sugar is dissolved and the juice is extracted from the oranges. Add the bourbon, and bitters and mix well. Pour into 4 low-ball glasses filled with ice, and top each with sparkling water. Garnish with an orange slice and serve.
OLD-FASHIONED
Steps:
- Place sugar, orange slice and bitters in an old-fashioned glass. Gently muddle until sugar has absorbed some liquid and resembles a fine paste. Add the bourbon or rye, along with a large ice cube or two, and stir well, about 20 times. Top with just slightest dash of club soda, if desired, and garnish with cherry.
