A bushel of peaches gave me a reason to create a wine cocktail. I meant to serve it with our meal, but we "taste-tested" it while grilling. -Katie Ferrier Gage, Houston, Texas

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
1 cup water
1 large piece fresh gingerroot (about 3 inches), peeled and coarsely chopped
COCKTAIL:
1/4 cup orange liqueur
2 medium ripe peaches, peeled and halved
1 bottle (750 milliliters) white wine, chilled
Ice cubes
1 to 1-1/2 cups chilled ginger ale
Fresh mint leaves and peach slices, optional

Steps:

In a large saucepan, combine sugar, water and ginger; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes. Cool completely. Pour syrup through a strainer into a covered container; discard ginger., Place liqueur and 1/4 cup ginger syrup in a blender. (Cover and refrigerate remaining syrup for another use.) Add peaches; cover and process until smooth., Transfer mixture to a 2-qt. pitcher; stir in wine. Serve over ice, topping with ginger ale. If desired, serve with mint and peach slices.

2 cups frozen unsweetened sliced peaches, thawed
1/2 cup brandy
1/3 cup honey
1/2 lemon, very thinly sliced
1 bottle (750 milliliters) dry white wine
1-1/2 cups carbonated water, chilled
Ice cubes

Steps:

In a 2-qt. pitcher, combine the peach slices, brandy, honey and lemon slices; stir in wine. Refrigerate for 2-4 hours or until chilled., Just before serving, stir in sparkling water. Serve over ice.

This comes from The Pillsbury Doughboy's Kids Cookbook. This was my very first cookbook. This was my favorite drink from the book. I made it for my Home economics class. It's very simple step, by step instructions for the beginner cooks! Thought I would post so my kids can have easy access to the recipes. Hope your kids enjoy too!

Ingredients

1 (16 ounce) can peach slices, undrained and chilled
1 (8 ounce) carton peach yogurt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla or 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup milk

Steps:

Using can opener, open can of peaches. Place peaches with liquid in blender container.
Add Yogrut to peaches, using a rubber scraper to get yogurt out of carton.
Measure and add vanilla (or almond extract) and milk.
Place cover on blender, blend at medium speed until the mixture is smooth and bubbly, about 1 minute.
Pour into glasses. Serve right away.

Pour wine into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid.
When cubes are frozen, plop 1 or 2 into a glass of ginger ale. Allow to sit for about 5 minutes so the cubes melt a little; stir.
