Steps:

  • Spread bread with peanut butter; fill with bananas and bacon to make 2 sandwiches. Press edges of sandwiches together to seal.
  • Heat large skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium heat. Whisk egg and milk in pie plate until well blended. Add sandwiches, 1 at a time, turning to evenly moisten.
  • Add sandwiches to skillet; cook 2 min. on each side or until golden brown.

2 slices cooked ham
2 slices cooked turkey meat

  • Spread bread with mayonnaise and mustard. Alternate ham, Swiss and turkey slices on bread.
  • Beat egg and milk in a small bowl. Coat the sandwich with the egg and milk mixture. Heat a greased skillet over medium heat, brown the sandwich on both sides. Serve hot.

⅔ cup water
1 egg
⅔ cup all-purpose flour
1 ¾ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
8 slices white bread
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 slices turkey
4 slices ham
⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar for dusting

Steps:

  • Heat 5 inches of oil in a deep-fryer to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C). While oil is heating, make the batter: In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg and water. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt and pepper; whisk into the egg mixture until smooth. Set aside in the refrigerator.
  • Assemble sandwiches by placing one slice of turkey on one slice of bread, a slice of ham on another, then sandwich them with the Swiss cheese in the middle. Cut sandwiches into quarters, and secure with toothpicks.
  • Dip each sandwich quarter in the batter so that all sides are coated. Deep fry in the hot oil until golden brown on all sides. Remove toothpicks and arrange on a serving tray. Dust with confectioners' sugar just before serving.

4 (1/3-inch-thick) slices egg bread
2 1/2 tablespoons whole grain Dijon mustard, divided
4 thin slices aged white cheddar cheese (cut to size of bread), divided
4 thin slices smoked turkey
4 thin slices smoked ham
4 leaves mustard greens (trimmed to size of bread)
2 large eggs
3 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • Place 2 bread slices on work surface. Spread each with 1 tablespoon mustard. Top each with 1 cheese slice, 2 turkey slices, 2 ham slices, 2 leaves mustard greens, another cheese slice, and bread.
  • Beat eggs and remaining 1/2 tablespoon mustard in pie dish to blend. Melt butter in large skillet over medium-low heat. Dip both sides of sandwiches into egg mixture. Place in skillet. Cover and cook until bottoms are golden, about 5 minutes. Turn sandwiches over. Cover; cook until golden and cheese is melted, about 4 minutes longer. 12 ounces red currant jelly
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon half-and-half
1 (12 ounce) jar red currant jelly
1 (15 ounce) can peaches (or your choice of canned fruit. I like peaches)
2/3 cup water
1 small egg
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon white pepper
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
8 slices white bread
4 slices roasted cooked turkey (1 ounce each sandwich)
4 slices tillamook swiss cheese (1 ounce each sandwich)
4 slices smoked ham (1 ounce each sandwich)
vegetable oil, for frying
confectioners' sugar, for dusting
fruit, compote
currant jelly, sauce

Steps:

  • CURRANT JELLY SAUCE: Combine jelly, water and half and half in blender and mix until smooth. Makes about 3/4 cup.
  • FRUIT COMPOTE: Combine your favorite fresh and canned fruits and chill well. Yield is about 1/2 cup per person.
  • BATTER: Place water, egg, salt, and pepper in a bowl and using an electric mixer, mix well at low speed. Add flour and baking powder and mix until batter is smooth. Chill.
  • SANDWICHES: Make 4 sandwiches, putting cheese between ham and turkey. Cut into fourths and put a toothpick through each quarter.
  • Heat about 6" of oil to 340 degrees in a fryer. Dip sandwiches in batter to cover all surfaces. Deep fry sandwiches until golden brown, turning as needed. An alternate way of frying it to put approximately 1/4" oil in a large pan and fry the sandwiches on both sides until crispy and brown.
  • Remove from oil and take out toothpicks. Drain on paper towel to remove excess oil. Sprinkle sandwiches with confectioners' sugar. Serve with fruit compote and currant jelly sauce.
