Someone brought these crunchy, nutty treats to a meeting I attended, and I wouldn't leave without the recipe. They're super easy to fix, inexpensive and delicious. The recipe makes a lot, so it's a great snack for a crowd. Marian Platt, Sequim, Washington

Number Of Ingredients 4

12 whole graham crackers
1/2 cup butter, cubed
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Line a 15x10x1-in. baking pan with heavy-duty foil. Break the graham crackers at indentations; place in a single layer in pan. , In a small saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar. Bring to a rolling boil over medium heat; boil for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; add nuts. Pour over crackers. , Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Let stand for 2-3 minutes. Remove to a wire rack to cool.

Graham crackers or club crackers can be used as the base for the brown sugar-pecan topping.

16 graham crackers, or more as needed
½ cup butter
½ cup margarine
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
  • Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and cover bottom of pan with graham crackers.
  • Bring butter, margarine, and brown sugar to a boil for 2 minutes. Add pecans and vanilla.
  • Pour brown sugar-pecan mixture over crackers; spread evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Cut while warm or break into small pieces.

Had these at a Christmas party last night and decided they belonged on my cookie tray. Posting this recipe for safe keeping. Other recipes I have seen use saltines, but these are made with honey grahams.

24 whole graham crackers
1 cup margarine
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Arrange graham crackers on ungreased 9x13x1" pan.
  • Place margarine and sugar in saucepan.
  • Heat to boiling point on high heat and boil for 2 minutes on low.
  • Stir in pecans. Spoon and spread over crackers.
  • Bake at 400 for 5 minutes. Cut each cracker in half while warm.
