This lemon yellow lemonade is what I remember lemonade should taste like. Never watered down with a real lemon kick! Serve over ice or frozen lemonade cubes.

¾ cup white sugar
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
6 cups cold water

Steps:

  • Cut the lemons in half and scoop the pulp into a blender. Add half of the rinds along with sugar, vanilla extract, and 2 cups of water. Blend until smooth, then strain into a serving pitcher and stir in the remaining water.

Steps:

  • Remove wide strips of zest from 2 lemons with a vegetable peeler (do not remove the pith). Make 2 cups simple syrup (recipe below), adding the lemon zest before heating. Let cool, then pour into an ice-filled pitcher. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 cups each fresh lemon juice and water, and some lemon slices.
  • Simple Syrup: To make 2 cups simple syrup, bring 1 1/2cups each sugar and water to a boil, stirring until dissolved. Let cool.

2 ounces simple syrup (2 ounces sugar and 2 ounces water)
2 medium slices fresh lemon, plus extra for garnish
1 1/2 ounces Gentleman Jack bourbon
Ice
1 ounce Triple sec or Cointreau
splash of club soda.

Steps:

  • In a small sauce pan over high heat, combine sugar and water and bring to a boil. Turn off heat and cool. In a mixing glass, muddle lemon, add bourbon, simple syrup, ice, and triple sec. Shake and pour into a Collins glass, finished with a splash of soda on top. Squeeze a lemon slice on top.
  • When we did this in the food processor, it was hard to get the sourdough pretzels to the right shape.

  • Juice the lemons to make 1 cup of juice. To make your labor easier, FIRMLY roll the lemons between your hand and counter top before cutting in half and juicing.
  • In a gallon pitcher combine 1 cup lemon juice, 1 cup sugar, and 6 cups cold water. Stir. Adjust water to taste. Chill and serve over ice.

1 cup packed light brown sugar
6 cups room temperature water

Steps:

  • Roll lemons on counter under palms to help loosen juices. Halve cross-wise and squeeze over a sieve/strainer until you have 1 cup of juice.
  • Dissolve sugar in hot water. Add to lemon juice.
  • Pour into a 2-quart glass or plastic pitcher. Add remaining water and refrigerate. Serve with lemon slices or mint sprigs. Enjoy!
