BARBECUED HOT DOGS

Steps:
- In a saucepan over medium heat, saute onion in butter until tender. Add celery, ketchup, water, lemon juice, sugar, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and mustard; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30 minutes. , Cut three 1/4-in. deep slits on each side of the hot dogs; place in a 2-1/2-qt. baking dish. Pour the sauce over the hot dogs. Cover and bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until heated through. Serve on buns.

Steps:
- Saute onion in butter until translucent.
- Add black pepper, paprika, mustard, ketchup, vinegar, water, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to boil.
- Cut 3-inch slits in each hot dog. Place hot dogs in a flat baking pan, slit side up. Pour sauce over hot dogs and bake in 350 degrees oven for 25 minutes. Occasionally baste hot dogs with sauce while they are baking.

- Preheat a grill to medium. Grill 8 hot dogs, turning, until lightly charred in spots, 5 to 7 minutes, brushing with barbecue sauce during the last minute of cooking. Toast 8 hot dog buns on the grill until marked, about 30 seconds. Serve the hot dogs on the toasted buns with assorted toppings.

A family favorite for years. My mother learned this baked hot dog recipe in the Girl Scouts in the 1950's.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in onion and brown sugar and cook until onion is soft but not yet brown, about 5 minutes. Add ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a simmer. Remove from heat.
- Cut a slit through each hot dog and fill with cubes of cheese food. Place dogs in buns and cover meat with onion sauce, about 3 tablespoons each. Wrap in aluminum foil.
- Bake in the preheated oven until piping hot throughout, about 15 minutes.

Another great recipe I dug out of a family cookbook... This is a great twist on hot dogs and was always a staple at my and my sister's birthday parties... Our friends would always say, "Saucy Dogs? Ewww! What's that?!" Then we couldn't get them to stop eating them!!! Definately a kid pleaser!!! Enjoy!!!
