Sloppy Joe Beef Burritos image

Ready in 30 minutes, this recipe takes everything you love about the classic Sloppy Joe sandwich - and turns it into burritos!

1 pound (500 g) ground beef
1 tbsp (15 ml) minced garlic (club house)
1/2 cup (125 ml) each chopped onion, green and red bell pepper
1 1/2 cups (375 ml) water
1 can (156 ml) tomato paste
1 package (37 g) sloppy joes seasoning mix (club house)
4 soft flour tortillas (10 inch/25 cm)
1/2 cup (125 ml) shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • In large skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef, garlic, onion and bell peppers. Drain off fat.
  • Stir in water, tomato paste and Sloppy Joes Seasoning Mix.
  • Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Place 1/4 of mixture into centre of each tortilla.
  • Top with 2 tbsp (30 mL) cheddar cheese. Fold in ends and roll.
  • Broil or grill until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.
  • Slice in half on the diagonal to serve.

A great, tangy take on the traditional bean burrito with Sloppy Joe filling. Very simple and quick to prepare and mild enough that kids love it.

1 pound lean ground beef
1 (15.5 ounce) can Sloppy Joe sauce
1 (30 ounce) can refried beans
6 (10 inch) flour tortillas
1 ½ cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup diced black olives, drained
1 cup sour cream
1 medium red onion, diced

Steps:

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease.
  • Reduce heat to medium and stir in Sloppy Joe sauce. Stir in refried beans until blended and cook until heated through, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, warm tortillas over medium-low heat on a flat skillet.
  • Fill tortillas with meat mixture and top as desired with Cheddar cheese, black olives, sour cream, and diced onion.
