8 (4 ounce) links fresh Italian sausage
1 (26 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
1 green bell pepper, seeded and sliced into strips
1 onion, sliced
6 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise

Steps:

  • Place the Italian sausage links, spaghetti sauce, green pepper and onion into a slow cooker. Stir to coat everything in sauce.
  • Cover, and cook on Low for 6 hours. Serve on hoagie rolls.

This easy crock pot main dish is made with mild Italian sausage, peppers and onions. Slow cooked sausage sandwiches are great for weeknight dinners and crock pot meals for a crowd.

5 mild Italian sausages
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup beer (lager)
2 onions (sliced thin)
2 red peppers (sliced thin)
5 hoagie rolls
¼ cup Dijon mustard

Steps:

  • Poke holes in the raw sausages to help release steam. Sear sausages with olive oil in a pan on medium-high. Brown sausages on all sides.
  • (optional) Saute onions with 2 tbsp olive oil on medium in a pan, stirring regularly, for 10-20 minutes until brown.
  • Add sausages, beer, onions and peppers to crock pot. Mix to integrate ingredients. Cook ~4-6 hours on high.
  • Serve on hoagie rolls with dijon mustard or other toppings.

3 bone-in pork loin chops (7 ounces each)
4 Italian sausage links (4 ounces each)
1 can (28 ounces) whole plum tomatoes, undrained
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 large onion, halved and sliced
1 large sweet red pepper, cut into strips
1 large green pepper, cut into strips
1 jar (16 ounces) mild pickled pepper rings, drained
8 submarine buns, split
1 cup shredded Italian cheese blend

Steps:

  • Place pork chops and sausage in a 5- or 6-qt. slow cooker. Place tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, garlic and pepper flakes in a food processor; pulse until chunky. Pour over meats. Cook, covered, on low 4 hours., Add onion and peppers to slow cooker. Cook, covered, on low 2-3 hours longer or until pork is tender, a thermometer inserted in sausages reads 160°, and vegetables are crisp-tender. Remove pork chops and sausages from slow cooker. Remove pork from bones; discard bones. Shred meat with two forks and cut sausages into 2-in. pieces; return to slow cooker. Serve on buns with cheese.

3 large assorted bell peppers
1 large yellow onion
3 garlic cloves
salt and black pepper
1 tablespoon minced fresh thyme
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 lbs assorted sausage
1/3 cup dry red wine
8 small portugese rolls

Steps:

  • Cut peppers and onions into chunks.
  • Put peppers in the slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle onion with garlic, salt, pepper, thyme, put in the slow cooker.
  • Brown the sausage in oil. Do not use a non-stick pan in order to maximize the scrape bits used later.
  • Prick the sausage with a fork and put into cooker.
  • Boil scrape bits left over in pan in wine.
  • Pour in cooker.
  • Cook on low 6 to 8 hours.
  • To make a sandwich.
  • Cut rolls in half and lightly toast.
  • Cut a sausage in half and put both halves on roll with some pepper and onions. Add a slice of american cheese, if desired.

8 Italian sausages or 8 kielbasa
26 ounces favorite spaghetti sauce
1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
1 small onion, sliced

Steps:

  • combine all into slow cooker and cook on low 5-6 hours.
  • Serve on rolls, rice or noodles.
  • Note: another delicious option is to take 2-3 fully cooked chorizo sausages, remove casing and crumble into sauce for a spicier mexican pasta sauce -- is wonderful!

2 red onions , finely chopped
1 celery stick , finely chopped
1-2 tbsp rapeseed oil
4 carrots , cut into fat pieces
12 chipolatas , each halved
1 sweet potato , peeled and cut into chunks
400g tin tomatoes
1 tbsp tomato purée or tomato and veg purée
1 thyme sprig
1 rosemary sprig
1 beef stock cube or stock pot

Steps:

  • Fry the onion and celery in the oil over a low heat until it starts to soften and cook, about 5 mins, then spoon it into the slow cooker. Fry the carrots briefly and add them too.
  • Brown the sausages all over in the same frying pan - make sure they get a really good colour because they won't get any browner in the slow cooker. Transfer to the slow cooker and add the sweet potato and tomatoes.
  • Put the purée in the frying pan and add 250ml boiling water, swirl everything around to pick up every last bit of flavour, and tip the lot into the slow cooker. Add the herbs, stock cube and some pepper. Don't add salt until the casserole is cooked as the stock can be quite salty. Cook on high for 4 hrs or on low for 8 hrs, then serve or leave to cool and freeze.
