1/4 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoons minced chives
1 garlic clove, minced
1 loaf (1 pound) French bread, cut into 1-inch slices

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the butter, cheese, chives and garlic; spread on one side of each slice of bread. Wrap in a large piece of heavy-duty foil; seal tightly. Place on a baking sheet. Bake at 350° for 15-20 minutes or until heated through.

1 1/2 tablespoons butter or stick margarine
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 (11-ounce) can refrigerated French bread dough
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives or green onions
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
Cooking spray

Steps:

  • Melt butter in a small skillet over medium heat. Add minced garlic; saute 30 seconds or until lightly browned. Remove from heat; stir in garlic powder. Unroll the French bread dough onto a lightly floured surface; brush dough with garlic mixture. Sprinkle the dough with chives and cheese. Cut the dough crosswise into 12 strips. Shape each strip into a knot. Place the knots onto a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350 degrees for 17 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.

2/3 cup 2% milk (70° to 80°)
1/4 cup water (70° to 80°)
1/4 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons butter
1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
3 cups bread flour
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup minced chives
2-1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

2 cups warm water
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 tablespoons sugar
2 (1/4 ounce) packages fast rising yeast
5 -6 cups flour

Steps:

  • Put water in large bowl. Add oil and sugar, then yeast. Mix in a little flour and let stand a few minutes until bubbles start to form. Stir in flour (may use mixer) until thick batter. Then add flour slowly until dough starts to come from sides of bowl.
  • Turn onto floured surface, round into ball. Cover with bowl. Let stand 10 minutes. Knead, adding flour if necessary so it isn't sticky. Dough should feel smooth and soft.
  • Put into well oiled bowl. Turn so it is covered with oil. Cover with towel. Should double in size in about half hour or a little more. Punch down and divide into 2 loaves.
  • Put into well oiled or sprayed 9 5/8 x 5 1/2 x 2 3/4 inch pans. Oil tops, let rise until doubled in size. Set in oven. Turn heat to 350 degrees. Bake about an hour or until loaves are brown on top and pull away from sides of pan. Put on rack to cool. Makes excellent toast. If cut into 16 slices, 97 calories per slice.

1 cup warm water
3 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon chives
1 tablespoon minced garlic clove
3 cups sodium-free bread flour
1 teaspoon yeast

Steps:

  • Combine all of the ingredients into your Bread Machine. Follow your bread machine instructions as to the order of the ingredients. I mix all the liquid ingredients together and then mix the dry ingredients.
  • You can also make it with no seasonings or whatever combination you like.
  • Baking -- You may let your bread machine run through it entire cycle to make your Seasoned Bread. Or, if you prefer remove the dough after the mix cycle and allow to rise in a regular bread pan pre-sprayed with a sodium-free spray, covered under a towel. Then bake at 400 for 20-25 minutes or until Golden Brown. Serve with Flieschman's Salt Free Margarine, YUM!
