Instead of going out make it at home. Choose the veggies of your choice, but this is how I like it.

4 slices pepperoni
2 slices salami
2 slices provolone cheese
1 ciabatta rolls or 1 roll, of your choice
shredded lettuce
onion, sliced
roasted jalapeno, sliced
pepperoncini pepper, sliced
2 slices tomatoes
black pepper, to taste
3 dashes red wine vinegar

Steps:

  • Assemble sandwiches using above ingredients. When taking to work, I put on vinegar at time of eating or it gets soggy.

Spicy Italian subs are the perfect game day sandwich! Deli meat and provolone cheese are piled high in these thick and flavorful spicy Italian sub sandwiches!

4 submarine sandwich rolls
4 tablespoons mayonnaise
8 slices provolone cheese
8 sliced ham
8 slices of turkey
12 slices hard salami
12 slices sandwich pepperoni
4 tablespoons Sambal Oelek Chili Paste (optional)
8 oz shredded iceberg lettuce
1 large tomato, sliced and quartered
1/4 olive oil
3 tablespoons white vinegar
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Cut sandwich rolls along one seam being careful to not cut all the way through. Spread may on each side of sub roll.
  • Top each roll with cheese, ham, turkey, salami and pepperoni. Spread a tablespoon of chili paste on each sub.
  • Heat in the oven for 5 minutes or until cheese melts.
  • Meanwhile place lettuce in a bowl. Whisk together oil, vinegar and seasoning. Pour over lettuce.
  • When sandwiches have heated, divide lettuce among each of the subs and top with tomato slices.

1/2 large onion, thinly sliced
1 12-inch loaf soft Italian bread
5 tablespoons red wine vinegar
5 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1/4 pound deli-sliced provolone cheese
1/4 pound deli-sliced Genoa salami
1/4 pound deli-sliced boiled ham
1/4 pound deli-sliced mortadella
1/4 pound deli-sliced capicola
1/2 head iceberg lettuce, finely shredded
1/4 to 1/2 cup sliced pickled pepperoncini (optional)
3 plum tomatoes, thinly sliced
1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano

Steps:

  • Soak the onion slices in a large bowl of cold water, 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, split the bread lengthwise, then pull out some of the bread from the inside. Drizzle 2 tablespoons each vinegar and olive oil on the bottom half. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Layer the cheese and meat on the bottom half of the bread. Drain the onion and pat dry. Top the meat with the onion, lettuce, pepperoncini (if using) and tomatoes. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons each vinegar and olive oil and sprinkle with the oregano. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Drizzle the cut side of the bread top with the remaining 1 tablespoon each vinegar and olive oil, then place on top of the sandwich. Cut into 4 pieces.

1 teaspoon dried basil
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
1 pinch dried oregano
½ pound sliced Capacola sausage
½ pound thinly sliced Genoa salami
¼ pound thinly sliced prosciutto
½ pound sliced provolone cheese
4 submarine rolls, split
1 cup dill pickle slices

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, toss together the lettuce, tomatoes and onion. In a separate bowl, whisk together the olive oil, white wine vinegar, parsley, garlic, basil, red pepper flakes and oregano. Pour over the salad, and toss to coat evenly. Refrigerate for about 1 hour.
  • Spread the submarine rolls open, and layer the Capacola, salami, prosciutto, and provolone cheese evenly on each roll. Top with some of the salad, and as many pickle slices as desired. Close the rolls and serve.

2 (12 ounce) cans beef broth
36 ounces dark beer, choice
20 ounces pepperoncini peppers, drained and chopped
1 dash pepperoncini pepper juice
2 fresh garlic cloves, minced
1 loaf fresh Italian bread
butter
8 slices provolone cheese

Steps:

  • Place roast in crock pot.
  • Cover with beef broth and beer.
  • Add pepperoncinis, pepperoncini juice, and 1 garlic clove, minced.
  • Cook on high for 1-2 hours.
  • Turn to low, cook additional 6-8 hours.
  • Split meat with fork as soon as meat will separate.
  • Prior to serving, prepare warm garlic bread with Italian bread, butter, and remaining garlic.
  • Toast bread with provolone cheese until lightly browned.
  • Serve with beef, peppers, and juice.
