1/4 cup KRAFT Mayo with Olive Oil Reduced Fat Mayonnaise
1/2 tsp. dried basil leaves
1 lb. lean ground beef
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup KRAFT Finely Shredded Italian* Five Cheese Blend
4 hamburger buns, toasted
4 leaf lettuce leaves
1 tomato, cut into 4 slices
8 pepperoncini pepper rings

Steps:

  • Heat grill to medium-high heat.
  • Mix mayo and basil. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Combine meat and garlic; shape into 8 thin patties. Top 4 patties with cheese; cover with remaining patties. Pinch edges together to seal. Grill 7 to 9 min. on each side or until burgers are done (160ºF).
  • Spread buns with mayo mixture. Fill with lettuce, tomatoes, burgers and peppers.

2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 medium green pepper, finely chopped
1/2 cup crushed cornflakes
1/2 cup chopped fresh mushrooms
1 tablespoon minced fresh basil or 1 teaspoon dried basil
1 tablespoon minced fresh oregano or 1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 pounds lean ground turkey
1 cup pizza sauce, divided
1/2 cup finely chopped turkey pepperoni
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
8 hamburger buns, split

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients. Crumble turkey over mixture and mix well. Shape into 16 patties. Layer 1 tablespoon pizza sauce, pepperoni and cheese onto the center of each of eight patties. Top with remaining patties and press edges firmly to seal., On a greased grill rack, grill burgers, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from the heat for 4-6 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 165° and juices run clear. Serve on buns with remaining pizza sauce.

These are enormous, stick-to-your-ribs kind of burgers with a surprise in the center. A real family favorite. I like to serve them on a bun topped with sauteed mushrooms and Swiss cheese. Use extra lean or lean ground beef instead of medium because the bacon adds to the fat content of the meat.

1 small onion, chopped
4 slices bacon, chopped
fresh-ground black pepper
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
4 hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Prepare a grill for medium heat. When hot, lightly oil the grate.
  • Fry the bacon in a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add onions to the pan; cook and stir until bacon is browned, but not crisp and onion is soft. Remove from the pan and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Season to taste with black pepper.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef and onion soup mix. Divide into 8 balls and then flatten into thin patties. Place a quarter of the bacon mixture onto each of four patties. Top with the remaining patties and press the edges together to seal.
  • Grill the burgers for about 15 minutes, turning once, until well done. Serve on buns with your favorite condiments.

1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
salt
1 tablespoon italian seasoning, crushed
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
4 rolls or 4 hamburger buns, split, toasted
1 medium tomatoes, sliced
prepared pizza sauce (optional)
mayonnaise (optional)
lettuce (optional)

Steps:

  • In small bowl, combine cheese, olives, and onion.
  • Shape ground beef into eight patties, approximately 4 1/2-inch diameter.
  • Place approximately 1/4 cup of cheese mixture in center of four patties; top with remaining patties. Press edges firmly together to seal; gently pat to 3/4-inch thickness.
  • In small bowl, combine Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and pepper. Press evenly into both sides of each patty.
  • Place patties on grill over medium, ash-covered coals. Grill, uncovered, 22 to 24 minutes to medium doneness (160 degrees) or until centers of patties are no longer pink and juices show no pink color; turn occasionally.
  • Season burgers with salt, as desired. Line bottom of each roll with one tomato slice; top with burger.
  • Add choice of toppings, if desired.
