These are rich little things that melt in your mouth.

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup margarine
1 egg yolk
¾ cup sour cream
¼ cup white sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Combine flour and butter in large bowl. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly.
  • In a separate bowl beat egg yolk and sour cream together with spoon. Add to flour mixture. Mix together well. Chill covered in refrigerator at least 4 hours. If you make this in the evening, store overnight.
  • Stir sugar and cinnamon together to use instead of flour for rolling dough. Sprinkle some over working surface. Roll about 1/4-1/3 of dough into circle about 10 inches in diameter, sprinkling with sugar-cinnamon mixture on both sides as needed both to roll and for taste. Cut in 16 pie shape wedges. Beginning at outer wide edge, roll toward center. Arrange on ungreased baking sheet close together, not touching.
  • Bake in a preheated 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) oven for 25 to 30 minutes, until browned.

Cheesy Skillet Crescent Rolls with Caramelized Onions image

Cast iron gets screaming hot, so it's perfect for giving rolls a beautiful crust.

4 tablespoons salted butter
2 small onions, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 8-ounce tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough, separated into 16 triangles
4 ounces Swiss cheese, shredded

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375˚ F. Melt the butter in a 12-inch cast-iron skillet over medium heat. Add the onions, thyme, 1 teaspoon salt and a few grinds of pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the onions are very soft and a deep golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes. Stir in the vinegar and cook, scraping up any browned bits, until evaporated, 1 to 2 minutes. Use a slotted spoon to remove the onions to a paper towel-lined plate and wipe the skillet clean.
  • On the wide end of each dough triangle, spoon a scant tablespoonful of caramelized onions and sprinkle with about 1 tablespoon Swiss cheese. Starting at the wide end, gently roll up the dough around the filling; place in the skillet. There will be some space between each roll, but the rolls will puff up and come together when baked.
  • Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake until the rolls are golden and puffy, 25 to 30 minutes. Let cool slightly before serving.

3 tablespoons butter, divided
1 cup sliced baby portobello mushrooms
1 medium onion, halved and sliced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated reduced-fat crescent rolls
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons butter over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms and onion; cook and stir 2-3 minutes or until softened. Reduce heat to medium-low; cook and stir 10-12 minutes or until onion is golden. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Remove from heat; stir in Parmesan cheese and parsley., Unroll crescent dough; separate into triangles. Place 1 tablespoon mushroom mixture at the wide end of each triangle; top with 1 tablespoon mozzarella cheese and roll up. Place 2 in. apart on an ungreased baking sheet, point side down; curve ends to form a crescent. Melt remaining butter; brush over tops., Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Refrigerate leftovers.

1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated reduced-fat crescent rolls
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1/2 cup shredded reduced-fat Swiss cheese
1/2 teaspoon salt-free seasoning blend
8 reduced-fat hot dogs

Steps:

  • Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into eight triangles. Cut each piece into two triangles. Spread each triangle with mustard; sprinkle with cheese and seasoning blend., Cut rounded ends from hot dogs (discard or save for another use). Cut hot dogs in half widthwise; place one piece on the end of each triangle and roll up. , Place pointed side down 2 in. apart on a baking sheet coated with cooking spray. Bake at 375° for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.

This was one of my dh's favourite dishes, when we were first married, it was a great way to use up leftover roast beef with Pillsbury crescents dough. It's tasty, quick and easy to make and best of all it looks like it took awhile to make. Only you need to know how easy this was.

3 tablespoons sweet white onions, finely chopped
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 1/2 cups swiss cheese, shredded
1/2 cup sweet red pepper, finely chopped
1/4 cup yellow sweet pepper, finely chopped
1/2 cup wild mushroom, finely chopped
1 1/2 cups beef, leftovers, diced
1 (8 ounce) package Pillsbury Refrigerated Crescent Dinner Rolls
2 tablespoons dry mustard
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper, fresh ground
1 tablespoon margarine, softened

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a large bowl mix the onion, mustard, parsley, salt, pepper, margarine and lemon juice together and blend well.
  • Add the cheese, colored peppers, mushrooms and the diced beef, mix lightly.
  • Separate the dough into 8 triangles and place on a greased cookie sheet.
  • Arrange the triangles in a circle with the bases over lapping.
  • The center opening should be about 3 inches in diameter.
  • Points should be towards the outside.
  • Spoon the filling in a ring over bases of triangle.
  • Fold the points of the triangle over the filling and tuck under the base at the center of the circle.
  • When finished it should look like a round ring.
  • Bake in a preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool 5 - 10 minutes before serving.
  • Perfect served with a fresh salad.
