This classic homemade tartar sauce is the perfect sauce to serve with fish and seafood, and it takes no more than 10 minutes to throw together.

1 1/2 tablespoon pickle or cornichons, finely chopped
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon capers , chopped
2 teaspoons grainy mustard
Pinch kosher salt
Pinch freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • In a small bowl, combine the mayonnaise, dill pickles, dill, lemon juice, mustard, minced onion (if using), capers, salt, and pepper. Stir to blend the ingredients thoroughly. Taste and adjust the seasonings as desired.
  • Refrigerate the tartar sauce until serving time.
