You can keep the batter covered in the fridge for up to a week. Just be sure to whisk well before using again. You may also use whole wheat flour for this recipe.

2 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 ¾ cups milk
½ cup vegetable oil
1 tablespoon white sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat waffle iron. Beat eggs in large bowl with hand beater until fluffy. Beat in flour, milk, vegetable oil, sugar, baking powder, salt and vanilla, just until smooth.
  • Spray preheated waffle iron with non-stick cooking spray. Pour mix onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown. Serve hot.

1 cup old fashioned oats
1 tablespoon ground flax seeds (optional)
5 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons sugar (brown or white)
2 eggs, beaten
2 1/4 cups milk
1/4 cup oil
1 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Soak oats in milk.
  • Mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and flax seed.
  • Mix eggs, oil, and vanilla into milk mixture.
  • Add wet and dry ingredients to oats, mix until just combined.
  • Bake in preheated and greased waffle iron until golden brown.

3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup All-Bran® Original
2 eggs, separated
1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
6 tablespoons melted margarine or butter

Steps:

  • 1. In large mixing bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt and KELLOGG'S ALL-BRAN cereal. Slightly beat egg yolks. Add egg yolks, buttermilk and melted margarine to cereal mixture. Stir until well blended.2. In small mixing bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold into batter.3. Bake in preheated waffle iron according to manufacturer's directions or until steaming stops and waffle is golden brown. Serve hot with syrup or fruit topping, if desired.

Tasty Low Fat, Multigrain Strawberry Orange Waffles image

I made these waffles by adaptation - I am always trying to adapt my favourite old school recipes into healthier versions without losing the taste. I think I did it with this recipe everyone ate them right up! I am from Canada and used Robin Hood Multigrain flour which contains a variety of grains including flax and millet but still retains a lightness that is nice. This is also really yummy with a dollop of yogurt on top of the fruit!

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 lb strawberry, washed, hulled and sliced
1 orange
1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
1/2 cup fat free egg substitute
1/2 cup plain nonfat yogurt
1 3/4 cups skim milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups multi-grain flour

Steps:

  • Preheat your waffle iron.
  • Slice your strawberries into a bowl, add vanilla sugar and juice of the orange, stir gently to combine and set aside. (Can be done way ahead of time).
  • Pour 'eggs' into a bowl with milk, yogurt, vanilla and stir to mix completely.
  • In a separate, large bowl combine sugar, baking powder, salt and flour.
  • Pour wet ingredients into dry, stir to completely combine.
  • Use cooking spray on your waffle maker, follow your maker's directions to produce tasty waffles.
  • While still hot, spoon strawberries on top and slice a half a banana over the berries.
  • Enjoy!
