2 tablespoons of finely chopped onion and celery
4-6 tablespoons of vegetable oil
1 teaspoon of thyme
1 pound of frozen imitation crab meat, defrosted and finely chopped using a food processor
3/4 cup of seasoned breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon of mustard
2 tablespoons of mayonnaise (add another cup for a dipping sauce)
2 lightly beaten eggs
Salt and pepper to taste
3 tablespoons of ketchup (for dipping sauce)
1 tablespoon of sugar

Steps:

  • Place the chopped onions and celery into a skillet or frying pan. Sauté in 1 tablespoon (14.8 ml) of oil.
  • Add the thyme. Reduce the heat and cook gently until the onions wilt, or appear transparent. Avoid browning or burning them.
  • Mix the crabmeat, sauteed onions and celery, breadcrumbs, Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, egg, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Mix well until all ingredients are properly combined.
  • Create patties from the mixture. Make round patty shapes using a mold or your hands. Pat them flat or use the back of a fork.
  • Return to the skillet. Heat 3 tablespoons (44.4 ml) of oil. Cook the patties in batches of 2 to 3 at a time. Cook each patty 2 minutes each side, or until the patties are golden brown. Keep adding oil for following batches as needed.
  • Preheat the oven to 200ºC/400ºF. Add the fried Krabby patties to the oven for a 10 minute bake.
  • Remove and serve. Serve with a mix 1 cup of mayonnaise and 3 tablespoons (44.4 ml) of ketchup together or serve mayonnaise and ketchup separately.

1 pound crabmeat
1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons minced chives
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon celery seed
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
Hot sauce/Tabasco sauce to taste
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons unsalted butter
For the onion rings:
4 large sweet onions, peeled and sliced into thick rings
1 cup eggs (beaten)
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups bread crumbs
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
2 teaspoons red pepper
1 quart oil for frying
For the sandwich:
Hamburger buns (whatever you like) lightly toasted
Ketchup
Mustard
American Cheese
Dill Pickle slices
Lettuce
Tomato

Steps:

  • Directions for patties: Mix crab, egg, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, chives, mustard, lemon juice, celery seed, onion powder, pepper and hot sauce in a large bowl. Form into 6 patties. Heat oil and butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat until the butter stops foaming. Cook the patties until golden brown, about 4 minutes per side. Directions for onion rings: Place the onions, eggs, and flour into separate shallow bowls. In another shallow bowl, stir together the bread crumbs, salt, pepper, cayenne, oregano, basil, and red pepper. Heat oil in a heavy skillet or deep-fryer to 365 degrees F (180 degrees C). Dip rings of onion into flour, then into the egg, and then into the bread crumb mixture, shaking off any excess after each dip. Carefully drop each onion ring into the hot oil, and fry for about 30 seconds on each side, or until golden. Remove from hot oil to paper towels to drain. Assemble as follows: -Bottom bun -Patty -Ketchup -Mustard -Cheese (or you can melt over patties) -Two pickle slices -Lettuce -Tomato -Onion Rings -Top bun
