Classic Hamburger Recipe by Tasty image

Here's what you need: ground beef, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, vegetable oil, cheese, hamburger buns, topping of your choice

Provided by Jordan Kenna

Categories     Dinner

Yield 2 hamburgers

Number Of Ingredients 7

12 oz ground beef
kosher salt, to taste
freshly ground black pepper
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
2 slices cheese, such as swiss, cheddar, or american, optional
2 hamburger buns
topping of your choice, for serving

Steps:

  • Divide the beef into 2 patties, each about ¾-inch (2 cm) thick and 3 ½ inches (9 cm) in diameter. Transfer the patties to a plate or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Remove the patties from the fridge and season on both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Heat a large cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the oil to the pan and swirl to evenly coat. Place the patties in the skillet and cook, undisturbed, on the first side for 5 minutes, until a brown crust forms.
  • Flip the patties, top each with a slice of cheese (optional), and cook, undisturbed, until the patties are browned on the other side, the cheese is melted, and the meat is cooked through, about 5 minutes more for medium-well doneness.
  • Remove the patties from the pan and transfer to a clean cutting board. Let rest for about 5 minutes.
  • Place the burger patties on buns and serve with your favorite toppings and sauces.
  • Enjoy!

1 ½ pounds ground chuck (80/20)*
1 1/2 teaspoons ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

6 Pickle slices

Steps:

  • Make burger seasoning by combining all spices in a bowl. Set aside.

CRISPY CHICKEN BURGER WITH HONEY MUSTARD COLESLAW

Crispy Chicken Burger with Honey Mustard Coleslaw image

Crispy Chicken Burger with Honey Mustard Coleslaw on a toasted brioche bun, with jalapenos and crunchy lettuce. Waaay better than takeout!

Provided by Nicky Corbishley

Categories     Dinner

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 27

3 large chicken breasts (sliced into long, thick strips)
240 ml (1 cup) buttermilk
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp white pepper
¼ tsp garlic salt
180 g (1 1/2 cups) plain (all-purpose) flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
½ tsp garlic salt
½ tsp celery salt
1 tsp dried thyme
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp chilli flakes
1/3 white cabbage
1 medium carrot (peeled)
4 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tbsp honey
2 tsp lemon juice
pinch black pepper
vegetable oil (for deep frying)
4 slices gouda cheese (I used the ready-sliced kind, or you can slice it yourself )
4 brioche buns (toasted)
8 pieces crunchy lettuce - I used 'O' so sweet' variety (but Romaine or Little Gem are great too)
1-2 jalapenos (sliced)
1/2 red onion (peeled and thinly sliced)

Steps:

  • Place the chicken in a bowl. Add the buttermilk, salt, pepper and garlic salt. Mix together, cover and place in the fridge to marinade for at least 1 hour (up to over night)
  • Preheat the oven to a low heat (to keep cooked chicken warm). Heat a large pan of vegetable oil (or preheat your deep fat fryer) until hot (you can test by dropping a small cube of bread in there, if it rises immediately to the top and starts to bubble rapidly, it's hot enough). You'll need at least 1 litre (4 cups) of oil - but make sure your pan is no more than one third full.
  • Mix together the crispy coating ingredients in a small bowl. Take the chicken out of the fridge. Lift a piece from the buttermilk and allow the excess to drip off. Dredge the chicken in the crispy coating mixture - ensuring it's fully covered. Place on a tray and repeat until all of the chicken is coated.
  • Once the oil is hot enough, add in 5 or 6 of the chicken tenders. You can add more or less depending on the size of your pan, just be sure not to overcrowd the chicken. Cook for 3-5 minutes until golden brown and cooked in the middle. You can check this by cutting open a piece of chicken, if it's no longer pink in the middle, it's cooked.
  • Place on a tray in the oven to keep warm whilst you cook the rest of the chicken.
  • Make the coleslaw by using a mandoline to julienne the cabbage and carrot (or you can slice thinly by hand). Place in a bowl with the mayonnaise, mustard, honey, lemon juice and black pepper. Stir together, then cover and refrigerate until needed.
  • Now it's time to assemble. First, arrange the chicken tenders into four piles and place the gouda on top. Grill or place into a hot oven for a couple of minutes until just melted.
  • Place the bottom of the brioche buns on four plates. Top with the lettuce leaves, followed by the cheesy chicken pieces.
  • Spoon on the coleslaw, then sprinkle on the red onion slices and jalapeno slices. Place tops of the buns on top and serve.

CLASSIC CHEESEBURGERS

Classic Cheeseburgers image

Whether celebrating Independence Day today or not, there's always room for a cheeseburger in the heat of summer. We couldn't resist keeping this meal classic with baked fries and ketchup on the side. Berry parfaits can give the meal a patriotic touch if you use red and blue berries layered with plain yogurt.

Provided by CookSmarts

Time 40m

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 14

1 1/4 lbs Beef, ground and lean
3/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Black pepper
1 Tomatoes, beefsteak, sliced (sub any large tomato)
1 Onions, medium and red, thinly sliced
4 leaves Lettuce, romaine (sub green leaf or iceberg)
4 slices Cheese, American
4 Hamburger buns
1 pint Strawberries, quartered (sub any red berry like raspberries or cherries)
2 cups Yogurt, plain or Greek
1 pint Blueberries
2 Tbsp Honey
16 oz Oven fries, frozen (regular or sweet potato)
for serving Ketchup (opt)

Steps:

  • Follow cooking instructions on frozen fries to heat oven and bake fries.
  • If cooking on a grill: Heat grill to 500F / 260C degrees.
  • {grill}: Brush grill grates with some oil and then place patties over direct heat. Grill on opposite sides for ~4 minutes each with cover closed and continue cooking until patties reach an internal temperature of 165F / 74C degrees. Add cheese slices to tops of patties in the last 2 minutes of cooking. Buns can be toasted on grill for the last 2 to 3 minutes.
  • If cooking with oven / stovetop: When fries are nearly finished cooking, heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush pan with some oil and then place patties on heated oil. Cook patties until they reach an internal temperature of 165F / 74C degrees, ~5 minutes on each side. Add cheese slices to tops of patties in the last 2 minutes of cooking. Toast buns.
  • Right before serving, top each parfait with honey.
  • Fill buns with hamburger patties. Let everyone top their cheeseburgers at the table. Serve fries with ketchup on the side. Serve the parfaits right away or save them for a light dessert. Enjoy!
