These Chewy Rice Krispie Treats are soft, chewy, and taste so much better than store bought!!

Ingredients

8 tablespoons butter
2 (10oz)(283g) bags mini marshmallows
8 cups (240g) crispy rice cereal
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
¼-½ teaspoon salt (yes, salt. Just do it)

Steps:

Line a 9x13 baking pan with foil or parchment paper. Coat with extra butter; set aside.
In a large pot melt the 8 tablespoons butter over low heat. Stir in the marshmallows and continue stirring until most of the marshmallows are melted. (I like to leave plenty that aren't fully melted for pockets of gooey marshmallow throughout the treats!)
Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and salt. Stir in the cereal until completely coated.
Spoon into prepared pan and with well-buttered hands press into an even layer. Let cool at least 30 minutes before cutting.

Steps:

Melt butter and marshmallows over low heat while stirring. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
Add Rice Krispies cereal and stir until well coated.
Press into a greased 9x13" pan and cool completely.

1/4 cup margarine
16 ounces marshmallows
1 teaspoon vanilla
6 cups Rice Krispies (generic works fine)

Steps:

Melt margarine in a large pan over medium heat.
Melt in marshmallows and stir continuously until smooth.
Add vanilla (be careful it doesn't splash on you).
Without removing from heat, add cereal. Stir until cereal is completely covered with marshmallow mixture.
Pour into a greased (spray Pam works great) 9x13 pan. Let cool 2 minutes. Press flat with greased hands. Cool completely and cut into squares. Enjoy!

For super thick Rice Krispie Treats, our favorite, grease an 8x8-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. For regular Rice Krispie Treats, grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set pan aside.
In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the 16 oz bag of marshmallows and stir until the marshmallows are completely melted. Don't over cook or the marshmallows will get hard.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla (if using) and the sea salt. Add the cereal and gently stir until the cereal is well coated with the marshmallows. Stir in the remaining 2 cups of mini marshmallows.
Transfer mixture to the prepared pan. Lightly press the mixture into the pan, using a greased spatula. You can also lightly grease your hands and press the mixture into the pan. If you are using an 8x8-inch pan the mixture will completely fill the pan and that is ok.
