PORK AND SAUERKRAUT WITH POTATOES
This is a wintertime favorite in our home. The down-home flavors of pork and sauerkraut are complemented by potatoes and apples. The aroma is irresistible as it cooks.

- In a large bowl, combine the sauerkraut, onion, apples, corn syrup, bay leaves, caraway and pepper. Spoon half into a 5-qt. slow cooker; top with potatoes. , Broil pork chops 6 in. from the heat for 3-4 minutes on each side or until browned; place over potatoes. Spoon remaining sauerkraut mixture over pork. , Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low; cook 4-5 hours longer or until meat is tender. Discard bay leaves.

TOMATO-SAUERKRAUT PORK
This is a delicious pork dish. I generally make it for New Years but its great anytime of the year.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Place the Pork Roast in the center of a large roasting pan.
- In a large bowl combine the sauerkraut and tomato-vegetable juice. Sweeten to taste with the white sugar. Pour this mixture around the pork roast.
- Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven until the roast has an internal temperature of 145 degrees F (63 degrees C), about 30 minutes per pound. Remove the foil for the last 15 minutes of cooking.

- Pour tomatoes into a 2 quart casserole dish.
- Sprinkle with s/p.
- Melt marge in saucepan.
- Stir in 1c crumbs.
- Spread 1/2c crumbs over tomatoes.
- Spoon sauerkraut over top in a layer.
- Mix tomato juice& sugar together.
- Pour ovet sauerkraut.
- Sprinkle 1/2c of crumbs over all.
- Bake uncovered for 20-30 minutes@ 350 oven.

- Sprinkle both sides of pork chops with salt and pepper. In a large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray, cook three chops in 1 teaspoon oil for 2-3 minutes on each side or until browned; drain. Repeat with remaining chops and 1 teaspoon oil. , Place pork chops in a 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish coated with cooking spray; set aside. In the same skillet, cook onion in remaining oil until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in the tomatoes, sauerkraut, brown sugar and caraway seeds. Cook and stir until mixture comes to a boil. , Carefully pour over chops. Cover and bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until a thermometer reads 160°.

PORK AND SAUERKRAUT - CROCK POT STYLE
I had some lean, boneless pork chops on hand and had a craving for sauerkraut, but without any apples (which I usually cook with). I threw all these ingredients together and had a pleasant surprise for supper. Served this concoction over boiled potatoes....and, me being me, I added a dollop of sour cream on top....thought I was in heaven. I don't think that there is another identical recipe on the Zaar.....could add caraway seeds, but DH doesn't like them, so I don't use them, but would change the taste

- saute onion and garlic in the 2 tbsp of olive oil til soft
- add sauerkraut, tomato paste, sugar and chicken broth.
- mix together and put in crock pot.
- saute pork cubes, in batches, in olive oil til browned.
- add to crock pot and stir together.
- cook on HIGH for approx, 5 hours.
- serve over boiled potatoes or noodles.
