We saw this on "No Reservations"; this is our approximation of it. It is Swedish street food. Amounts are approximations; make this to suit your own ideas. These amounts were based on how I made it tonight. Note: I didn't bother making the shrimp salad. I just layered everything on in the order listed. If you do that, however, you need to chop the apple at the last moment because otherwise it turns brown.

Number Of Ingredients 12

4 flour tortillas
1 cup mashed potatoes
4 hot dogs
catsup, to taste
mustard, to taste
relish, to taste
1/2 cup lowfat sour cream
1 cup baby shrimp (or larger, peeled and chopped)
1/2 cup lowfat mayonnaise
1/2 large apple, finely chopped
1/2 cup rutabaga, peeled and finely chopped
1 cup torn leaf lettuce

Steps:

  • Make a shrimp salad with the shrimp, mayonnaise, apple and rutabaga.
  • Slightly heat hotdogs (I microwaved for one minute). Lay tortilla flat. Top with everything in the order listed, ending with the shrimp salad and lettuce.
  • Fold into an open cone shape and enjoy.

  • Heat milk to 110-115 F. Add sugar and stir to combine. Sprinkle yeast on top and leave for 10 minutes until it turns foamy.
  • In the bowl of an electric mixer, combine rye flour, 3 cups of the wheat flour, honey, salt, fennel seed and baking soda. Knead for 5 minutes until dough is soft and elastic.
  • Place in a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap sprayed with non stick spray and a kitchen towel. Leave for 1 hour. Due to the low gluten content of rye, it will only proof about 50% of original volume.
