1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 egg white
1 pinch salt
1 cup finely chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Combine sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; set aside.
  • Beat egg white (at room temperature) and salt at high speed of an electric mixer 1 minute.
  • Gradually add sugar mixture, 1 tbls.
  • at a time, beating until stiff peaks form.
  • Fold in walnuts.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets.
  • Bake at 250* for 35 to 40 minutes.

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 300 degrees F.
  • Whip the egg white with a whip attachment until stiff.
  • Add the sugar, cinnamon, and salt and continue whipping until stiff and glossy. Fold in the walnuts.
  • Drop by spoonfuls onto a parchment lined sheet pan and bake 35 to 40 minutes. Cool and remove from the pan. Store in an airtight container.

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, cream shortening and sugar untill fluffy. Add egg yolk; beat well. Stir in vanilla. Combine the flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a separate bowl and in another bowl combine milk and vinegar. Alternately add flour mixture and milk mixture to butter mixture until well combined. Fold in walnuts.
  • In a small bowl beat egg whites to form soft peaks and gradually fold egg whites into batter. Transfer to 2 greased 6-inch backing pans. Bake at 350 F for 15-20 minutes Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans.
  • For frosting, in a small saucepan, combine flour and milk until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 1-2 minutes or until thickened. Cover; cool to room temperature In another small bowl, cream buter and shortening. Gradually beat in sugar. Gradually add cooled milk mixture and beat 4 minutes or until fluffy. Add vanill and salt, beat well. Spead between layers and evenly on top.

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 tablespoons milk
1 egg
1 1/2 cups white whole wheat flour
2 1/2 cups coarsely chopped walnuts, toasted

Steps:

  • To toast walnuts, place on baking sheet and bake at 350* for 6 to 8 min or until pale brown and fragrant.
  • Beat brown sugar, butter, baking powder, vanilla, cinnamon, ginger and salt in large bowl at medium speed 3 to 4 min or until lightened in color and smooth. Beat in molasses and milk until blended. Beat in egg (mixture will look curdled). At low speed, beat in flour just until blended. Stir in walnuts. Cover and refridgerate 30 minute.
  • Meanwhile, heat oven to 350*. Line baking sheet with parchment paper. Drop about 2 1/2 tbsp dough per cookie onto baking sheets; slightly flatten with fork. Bake 11 to 13 min or until set and light brown around the edges. (Do not overbake.) Cool completely on wire racks.

2 teaspoons olive oil
2 cups walnut halves
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon coarse salt

1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • In a large nonstick skillet, heat honey, oil, and 1 tablespoon water over medium heat. Add walnuts; toss to coat.

1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup red candied cherries, halved
1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 cups sweetened applesauce
TOPPING:
24 red and/or green candied cherries
1/4 cup walnut halves

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the raisins, walnuts and cherries; set aside. In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. , Combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt, cloves and nutmeg; add to creamed mixture alternatively with applesauce. Mix well. Stir in the raisin mixture. Transfer to a greased and floured 10-in. tube pan; top with whole cherries and walnut halves. , Bake at 325° for 1-1/2 hours or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. This cookie recipe is made every year for the holidays; my family can't have Christmas without them.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Cream together the butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla.

1 cup brown sugar
2 cups finely chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Beat the egg whites with an electric mixer until light and frothy; beat in sugar, about 1 tablespoon at a time, until incorporated. Continue beating until the mixture is thick and shiny, 1 to 2 more minutes. Lightly fold in the walnuts. Drop by heaping teaspoonful onto the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake until dry to the touch, about 40 minutes. Cool thoroughly.

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350*.
  • Place walnuts in a 15 1/2" x 10 1/2" jelly roll pan.
  • Toast walnuts in oven 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, mix sugar, vegetable oil, Worcestershire sauce, ground red pepper, and salt.
  • Remove walnuts from oven, drizzle spice mixture over the nuts and toss until thoroughly coated.
  • Spread nuts in a single layer, cool completely in a pan on a wire rack.
  • Store at room temperature in tightly covered container up to a month.
  • Makes about 2 cups.
