It couldn't get much easier than this bright spritzer! "Watermelon blended with limeade is cool and refreshing. It's a wonderful thirst-quencher on a hot summer day." -Geraldine Saucier, Albuquerque, New Mexico

Yield 5 servings.

Number Of Ingredients 4

4 cups cubed seedless watermelon
3/4 cup frozen limeade concentrate, thawed
2-1/2 cups carbonated water
Lime slices

Steps:

  • Place watermelon in a blender. Cover and process until blended. Strain and discard pulp; transfer juice to a pitcher. Stir in limeade concentrate. Refrigerate for 6 hours or overnight., Just before serving, stir in carbonated water. Garnish servings with lime slices.

This cocktail mixes muddled blueberries and watermelon with wine, gin and kombucha for a bright and fruity spritzer, perfect for any hot night!

Number Of Ingredients 5

3 cups of blueberry wine ((or any fruity wine))
2 cups of kombucha ((I used watermelon flavored))
4 shots of gin ((or spirit of choice, such as vodka))
1 cup of blueberries
4 slices of watermelon, seeds removed

Steps:

  • In a mortar and pestle, muddle the blueberries with the watermelon until there are no large chunks left.
  • Pour in the wine, gin and muddled blueberries/watermelon into a pitcher. Let sit in the fridge for at least 15 minutes and no longer than 2 hours to infuse the flavors of the fruit.
  • When you are ready to serve, pour in your kombucha. At this point, you can serve the cocktail as is, or strain it through a strainer to get the muddled fruit pieces out for a smoother sip. Enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 8

1-3/4 cups sliced fresh strawberries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
4 to 5 tarragon sprigs
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 teaspoon whole peppercorns
3 cups sweet white wine, such as Riesling, chilled
3 cups club soda, chilled

Steps:

  • In a small saucepan, bring the first 6 ingredients to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 20 minutes. Remove from heat. Cool completely. Strain through a fine-mesh strainer into a small bowl (do not press berries). Refrigerate syrup until chilled. To serve, for each serving fill a tall glass with ice. Add 1/2 cup wine, 1/2 cup club soda and 1/4 cup strawberry syrup. If desired, garnish with additional tarragon.

  • Cook: Add berries, water, and sugar to a medium saucepan (optionally add lemon zest and/or ginger). Cook, uncovered, over medium heat until berries burst, mashing them a bit to form a thick liquid. Let cool to room temperature (to quicken this up, set pan in a sink full of cold water).
  • Bottle: Transfer kombucha into fermentation bottles*, leaving about 2 inches empty at the top. Seal tightly.
  • Ferment: Place in a dark, room temperature area for 3 to 10 days, until it reaches the carbonation level you like. This process will go faster in warmer climates, and slower in cooler climates.
