Wendy's Baconator is a perfect burger for bacon lovers! Two ground beef patties, cheese, and six pieces of crispy bacon are stacked between toasted buns with mayo and ketchup. You can make it at home with this easy copycat recipe.

Number Of Ingredients 7

2 pounds ground chuck
1 teaspoon salt
12 slices American cheese
12 slices Bacon
4 hamburger buns
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup ketchup

Steps:

  • Place bacon on a baking sheet that has a wire rack on it. Bake at 425 degrees for about 12 to 15 minutes or until bacon is crisp.
  • Divide into 8 portions. Gently shape each piece into squares. Grill burgers on either on a stainless grill, or cook them in a stainless steel skillet. Season burgers with salt as you cook them
  • Spread a little butter on the buns and toast them on the stainless steel griddle or toast under a broiler.
  • Place in the following order: Top bun MayonnaiseKetchupBaconCheese Burger Patty Bacon CheeseBurger Patty Cheese Bottom Bun

Number Of Ingredients 5

1/2 lb. fresh hamburger meat (divided)
Six strips Applewood Smoked Bacon
3 Slices Cheddar Cheese
1 Premium Bakery Style Hamburger Bun
Mayonnaise and Ketchup

Steps:

  • Cook the bacon to crisp - I recommend baking it in the oven*
  • Divide the burger meat into two 1/4 lb. patties
  • Heat the grill to medium high heat
  • Cook the burger patties, flipping once.
  • Heat the buns on the grill.
  • Top the bottom bun, and both patties with cheese and allow to melt. Top the melted cheese topped patties with 3 strips of bacon eac.
  • Build the Baconator: Cheesy bottom bun, burger patty 1, burger patty 2
  • Make a W with the ketchup and mayonnaise on the top bun and place that on top

  • From the ground beef into 4 equal patties. Season on both sides with salt and pepper. Lightly grease the grates of an outdoor grill. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Add the burger patties and cook turning at least once, until fully cooked (the internal temperature has reached 160 degrees F.). During the last few minute of cooking top each patty with a slice of American cheese. Cook until the cheese has melted.
  • To assemble patties: Place one burger patty onto the top of the bottom half of each bun. Top with 3 slices of bacon, another hamburger patty, 3 more slices of bacon. Add ketchup and mayonnaise and place the top part of the bun on top.

  • To Start You’ll Need to Cook Some Bacon. For a recipe like this I normal layout the bacon on a sheet pan lined with baking paper. Place in the oven under the grill until crispy.
  • Next You'll Need Three Large Potato. Start by cutting the into potatoes into Fries with strips. Discard the tops and cut the strips of potatoes making fries.
  • Fill the Bowl With Water. Move them through the water, this will release some of the starch making for crispier Fries. Once the water has become cloudy remove the Fries and dry using a tray lined with paper towel and a tea towel.
  • Heat the Oil to 310f or 155c and Fry for 6 to 8 Minutes. This will soft the Fries but not brown them. Drain and layout on a tray lined with paper towel.
  • In a Pot Add 100g of Butter Followed by Two Table Spoons of Plain Flour. Combine the butter and flour. Cook for 2 minutes, this is to stop the sauce from tasting like flour.
  • Season With Salt and Pepper and for a Little Extra Flavour Add Half a Tea Spoon of Cayenne Pepper. This cheese sauce is looking perfect! It's smooth but holds together beautifully.
  • Now to Fry Our Fries a Second Time at 350f or 170c. Cook until they become golden brown and crispy. Drain the fries before seasoning with salt, I’m using an Aussie Favourite Chicken Salt.
  • Time to Serve This Up! Place the fires on a plate. Hopefully, you remember to take the bacon out of the oven before it burned. Spread the half of the bacon across the top.
