ALL-NATURAL LAUNDRY DETERGENT (1-YEAR SUPPLY)

All-Natural Laundry Detergent (1-Year Supply) image

This stuff is wonderful! Very economical and perfect for people with sensitive skin/allergies or those who wish to "go green," and it really works! Soap flakes are often available at craft stores. Use whatever essential oils you like. Lavender, orange, lemon, and grapefruit are really nice for laundry. Recipe from one of my husband's classmates.

Provided by Daphne2002

Categories     Household Cleaner

Time 35m

Yield 80 loads (aprox.)

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 bar bath soap, grated (your favorite brand, fels naptha is great)
1 cup arm & hammer super washing soda laundry detergent (a laundry booster)
1/2 cup borax
hot water

Steps:

  • Place grated soap in a pot.
  • Cover with water and simmer over medium heat until all soap is melted, stirring occasionally.
  • Pour into 5 gallon bucket.
  • Add washing soda and borax.
  • Add enough hot water to fill the bucket.
  • Stir (I use a long measuring stick, but any long stick will work).
  • Let sit overnight to gel.
  • Use 1 cup per load.
  • (You can pour this into old detergent containers or leave in the bucket. Please cover with a lid if leaving in the bucket to protect children and pets.).

  • Unscented Laundry Detergent. Borax. Washing Soda. Ivory Soap. I like this recipe because it’s super simple to make. You can choose to leave it fragrance-free or add some of your favorite essential oils.
  • Borax-Free Liquid Detergent. Washing Soda. Baking Soda. Liquid Castile Soap. Water. Borax is an ingredient that’s always up for debate in green communities.
  • Sensitive Skin And Baby Safe. Washing Soda. Borax. Unscented Mild Liquid Castile Soap. This recipe is for those of you with babies or sensitive skin and would make a great DIY gift for baby showers.
  • Liquid and Powder Detergent. Washing Soda. Borax. Bar Soap. A lot of people shy away from powdered detergent because it can streak clothes. I have found if you add the detergent and let the water run, it dissolves better and eliminates the powder streaks.
  • Laundry Detergent With Downy Unstoppables. Laundry Bar Soap. Borax. Washing Soda. Baking Soda. Downy Unstoppable Scent Booster. Just because you’re making homemade laundry detergent doesn’t mean you can’t include some store-bought products as ingredients.
  • Lavender-Scented Laundry Detergent. Washing Soda. Borax. Lavender Liquid Castile Soap. I love this recipe and use it for my linens and curtains. You can use whatever fragrance floats your boat, or in this case, floats your load.
  • Essential Oils Liquid Soap No Residue. Sal Suds. Water. Baking Soda. Essential Oils. While looking for some new recipes to try, I learned that some people end up with residue in their washing machines from homemade soap.
  • 3-Ingredient Laundry Detergent. Castile Bar Soap. Washing Soda. Borax. Sometimes the fewer ingredients the better. This recipe is cheap and easy to make with three ingredients.
  • Dr. Bronner’s And Vinegar. Liquid Castile Soap. Vinegar. I am a huge fan of Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap. It’s available in both liquid and bar soap and can be used for many things: cleaning, dishes, laundry, bathing, and so much more.
  • DIY Laundry Pods. Washing Soda. Laundry Bar Soap. Epsom Salt. Hydrogen Peroxide. White Vinegar. Essential Oils. I love the idea of laundry pods but the dissolvable plastic coating makes me stay away from them.
