Feeling creative, I put an apple spin on a traditional cinnamon roll recipe. The results were yummy! A panful is perfect for a weekend morning in autumn.-Kim Forni, Claremont, New Hampshire

Number Of Ingredients 17

3-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 package (1/4 ounce) quick-rise yeast
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup 2% milk
1/4 cup apple cider or juice
1/4 cup plus 1/3 cup butter, softened, divided
1 large egg, room temperature
2 cups finely chopped peeled tart apples
1-1/4 cups packed brown sugar
3/4 cup finely chopped walnuts
3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
2 cups apple cider or juice
1 cinnamon stick (3 inches)
1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 cup confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine 2-1/4 cups flour, sugar, yeast and salt. In a small saucepan, heat the milk, cider and 1/4 cup butter to 120°-130°. Add to dry ingredients; beat just until moistened. Add egg; beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough (dough will be sticky)., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes. Roll into a 15x10-in. rectangle. Spread remaining butter to within 1/2 in. of edges. Combine the apples, brown sugar, walnuts and cinnamon; sprinkle over butter., Roll up jelly-roll style, starting with a long side; pinch seam to seal. Cut into 12 slices. Place cut side down in a greased 13x9-in. baking dish. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 325°., Bake until golden brown, 30-35 minutes. For frosting, place cider and cinnamon stick in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil; cook until liquid is reduced to 1/4 cup, about 20 minutes. Discard cinnamon stick; cool cider. , In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter until fluffy. Add confectioners' sugar and reduced cider; beat until smooth. Spread over warm rolls.

5 envelopes (0.74 ounce each) instant spiced cider mix
3 tubes (12.4 ounces each) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
2 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and chopped
1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
6 tablespoons butter, melted
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Combine cider mixes. Separate cinnamon rolls, setting aside icings; cut each roll into quarters. Add to cider mixture; toss to coat., Arrange a third of the dough pieces in a well-greased 10-in. fluted tube pan; top with half of the apples and half of the pecans. Repeat layers once. Top with remaining dough., Mix melted butter, cinnamon and icing from 1 container until blended. Drizzle over top of rolls. Bake until golden brown, 45-50 minutes. (If needed, cover top loosely with foil during last 5 minutes to prevent overbrowning.), Immediately invert monkey bread onto a serving plate; keep pan inverted 10 minutes, allowing bread to release. Remove pan. Meanwhile, microwave remaining icing, uncovered, until softened, about 10 seconds. Drizzle over monkey bread. Serve warm.

Consider your oven-space shortage conquered: These Bisquick™-based apple cider-flavored cinnamon rolls cook to perfection in the crock.

2 1/2 cups Original Bisquick™ mix
1/3 cup spiced apple cider
1/3 cup milk
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons apple pie spice
1 container Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy cream cheese frosting
2 tablespoons caramel topping

Steps:

  • Line bottom and side of slow cooker with cooking parchment paper, then spray parchment with cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, stir Roll Dough ingredients until dough forms. Turn out dough onto surface lightly sprinkled with Bisquick mix; knead until smooth, about 10 turns.
  • Roll dough into 15x9-inch rectangle. Brush with melted butter. In small bowl, mix brown sugar and apple pie spice; sprinkle on top. Tightly roll up dough from long end; pinch seam to seal. Cut roll into 9 equal slices. Place slices cut-side up in slow cooker.
  • Note: To absorb any condensation that forms inside the cover, secure a paper towel inside top of slow cooker cover. Cover; cook on High heat setting 2 hours to 2 hours 30 minutes or until rolls are baked through.
  • Use parchment to remove rolls from slow cooker. In medium bowl, stir Icing ingredients until well combined. Spread over warm or room-temperature rolls (you might not use all the icing). Serve immediately.

1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls
1/2 cup chunky applesauce
4 teaspoons apple cider or juice, divided
1-1/2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat air fryer to 300°. Unroll crescent dough; separate into 8 triangles. Place 1 tablespoon applesauce at the wide end of each triangle; carefully roll up. Brush tops with 2 teaspoons cider. Combine sugar and cinnamon; sprinkle over rolls., In batches, arrange rolls, point side down, in a single layer in greased air fryer. Curve to form crescents. Cook until golden brown, 7-9 minutes. Cool slightly. Combine confectioners' sugar and remaining 2 teaspoons cider; drizzle over rolls. Serve warm.
